BUY THIS ONE IT WORKS January 2, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Very short - This unit DOES NOT have the Audio / Video syncronization problems that some units have. I tried a Samsung before this one and the Samsung had horrible audio delays. It was absolutely worthless. BUY THE TOSHIBA, trust me.
Exactly What I Needed! January 1, 2009 I needed a method of getting my Sony Video8 tape cartridges backed up to DVD and this works flawlessly. Now with it on DVD I can capture the video copy on my computer and produce very good DVD video productions of these older recordings. I'm very satisfied with the Toshiba D-VR610.
Oh no, it ate the first two videotapes! December 31, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Just received this Toshiba DVR610 1018p in the mail and was excited to try it out. We popped in the first videotape (a family tape of important memories), hit play, and it made a terrible noise. We ejected the tape, but the machine had eaten the tape. Disappointment. Next, we tried another tape (an older one) and it ate it also. We returned the unit immediately.
Toshiba DVR610 1080P Tunerless DVD REcorder December 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
DVD Is a great buy ... Does everything and more than expensive units provide. We are very satisfied. Negative - Tech manual is poorly written. You have to fill in the missing steps for various pahases of utilizing this Equipment. For us older users, - the LCD could be brighter and larger for viewing when using the remote. Again, it is a bargin for the price performance ...!!!
Converting VHS-C tapes to DVD can be a problem December 28, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I too had issues using the VCR to DVD dubbing feature with this unit. I verified using a VHS adaptor for my VHS-C tapes plays well in the unit, I was unable to successfully copy VHS-C tapes to DVD on this unit. The message I kept getting when using this feature was Copyright error. I called a Toshiba rep who told me the unit was designed only for VHS to DVD (not VHS-C). Another Toshiba rep told me via email to copy my VHS-C tapes to VHS and then copy to DVD. I am not sending this unit back.
