Cannot play DVD's from Israel January 4, 2009
To my great disappointment this DVD player could not play many of my DVD's that were produced in Israel. Previous zone free DVD players I had could play these same DVD's. Beware Israeli users!

Review - Philips DVP 5140 December 26, 2008
Very nice unit. Works as advertised, plays all my wife's SE Asia VCDs. It even worked well with regular DvDs. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a versatile DVD/CD player.

Huge Disappointment. December 3, 2008
This DVD player is terrible. I bought it to wacth Region 2 DVD's and the damn thing will not play the DVD's. I tried sending it back and they would not take it back because it was "X" amount of days too late after I bought it. I highly advise one NOT to purchase this DVD player.

I ordered the DVD player on Wednesday, it shipped on Thursday and was delivered on Friday. And the quality and ease of use and great, didn't have to program anything to play any region DVD's..recommend this product and supplier.

So far, so good November 11, 2008
The first unit did not work. Philips replaced it with no problem. The second unit works perfectly. It plays DVD's fron US and UK. I bought this player to watch "The Professionals" which are only available from the UK.
