2 out of 5 stars Easy but Cheap   December 29, 2008
I bought this as a gift for my 83-year-old dad. He found it fairly easy to use and the numbers big enough to see from across the room at night. However, after only a month, the nap and sleep buttons stopped working. I wish I had kept the proof of purchase to return it to the Target I bought it at. Although the warranty is a good for a year, you also need a proof of purchase for that. Collecting on the warranty is also an unhappy prospect, because it requires paying the postage to send it to the manufacturer and waiting an unknown amount of time for the manufacuter to either fix or replace the clock.

4 out of 5 stars Auto dim is awesome, no 24 hour time is not   December 16, 2008
Bought this to do nothing more then display the time in my bedroom.

The blue light and auto dim is great. Doesn't put out too much light in a dark setting.

Sadly the device has no option for 24 hour time, oh well.

3 out of 5 stars Good but last only a year   December 8, 2008
It starts having issues like the button to set the alarm doesn't work. so i can't have one of the alarm (it has 2) set to off or none because the button is stuck.
Also the blue light is pretty bright even if you've chosen the dim option.

1 out of 5 stars Highly flawed -- buy at your own risk   November 27, 2008

This clock looks great, but don't let that deceive you: this is a highly flawed, shoddily-built product which you buy at your own risk.

Within a year of purchase, here are the problems I've experienced:

- Out of the box, the clock produces an intermittent crackling noise even when the radio is off. I note other reviewers have had this problem as well. If your bedroom is quiet, this is easily audible and difficult to ignore.

- The buttons are terribly manufactured and break with minimal use. The "nap" button on my clock broke after about 9 months (stuck in a "down" position), even though I never use this function and certainly don't abuse the button.

- The final straw: after about a year of use, the alarm function is now inoperable (no alarm goes off even after being set).

I can't express my frustration with this product enough -- how difficult is it to build a simple digital alarm clock?! I plan to avoid RCA products in the future, if this little wonder is representative of their design / manufacturing prowess.

1 out of 5 stars Nice features, poor manufacturing   October 31, 2008

The nap function is nice. The automatic time set is great, too, but...

within two months, the digital readout for the hour partially burned out. You couldn't tell if the clock read 5 of 6 and 8 or 9. Another light burnout made it so you couldn't tell if the alarm was set and on or not. That's pretty shoddy manufacturing, especially considering our previous clock radio (Panasonic) lasted for 15 years before the time set buttons fell off. We are buying a new clock to replace the RCA.
