Nice Unit August 21, 2008 Unit does have good AM/FM reception. Sounds good too. Only 'buggy' thing about it is having to go through the menu of options to select things like sleep timer or presets - a simple button would be better & easier to use.
odor and heat August 18, 2008 I use it in a fringe area and it pulls in distant stations well and without static. It has tone controls, a great improvement over it's predecessor the Receptor that has too much bass and no tone control. But like the Receptor, it makes a lot of heat even when off. Tech support cannot tell me how much power it draws when off or on. And it has a strong chemical odor that tech support says is due to a little too much adhesive. Over four weeks time, this has improved and is now acceptable. Overall I'm quite satisfied
Reliability is questionable August 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I bought mine from Target on 7/28 and I came back from work yesterday and the display was blank. I tried unplugging it and plugged it back in and the display lit up, but no time. After that, it wouldn't even light up - totally dead within one week. This was S/N AMW018970. I exchanged it at Target today so we'll see if this one is more reliable.
Otherwise, I agree with the comments on the poor design of the sleep function. However, I bought it for the reception.
Love it w/one nuance July 22, 2008 This is the clock radio I have been searching for. Love the style, sound and function with one complaint. When waking to music via the alarm, the alarm itself will cancel as soon as you adjust the volume or change station and go to straight radio mode. Thus, I came home one afternoon with the radio still on! Boston, make the adjustment so I can stay in alarm mode and adjust the volume or station without canceling the alarm. I'd buy another then.
Great sound, but...... July 8, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I also had several problems with my BA Horizon. Mine also emitted a buzzing sound when the radio was on via the "sleep" mode; but also, as I go to bed after 11 PM most nights, the sleep function won't allow the radio on time to run past midnight. (I.e., it's 11:20 PM, and the device defaults out of sleep setting mode unless a time of 40 minutes or less is chosen.) Seemingly insignificant, but for the price... Also annoying is the previously noted loss of time when the radio is just being listened to in normal mode. I'm either returning it (to Target), or I may contact BA and see if a replacement model has had these bugs worked out.
