Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Experience legendary Sony quality at a remarkable value. The 32" KDL-32L4000 LCD flat panel HDTV delivers two HDMI ports for connection to the most advanced audio and video sources available. Add to that two more component inputs and a PC input, and you have five ways to get HD quality entertainment to your TV. And with wide viewing angles and a fast panel response time, now everyone can enjoy video entertainment no matter where they're sitting. From a design standpoint, a beautiful gloss black color with chrome accents make the L series a sight to behold, even when it is turned off.

5 out of 5 stars Sony Bravia KDL-32L4000   January 6, 2009
Great TV!! It has been my experience that you just can't beat a Sony product and this item is no exception. If I had it to do over again, I wouldn't change a thing.

The first word that comes to mind when describing the Sony KDL-32L4000 is VALUE. The second is: QUALITY. Value and quality are pillars of the Sony brand name. A brand name that usually commands a higher price...
Until now...

At $500, the Sony KDL-32L4000 is an absolute steal. First off...31.5" of 720p real estate. With HDMI, you can accept a native 1080p signal. The signal is then downsized to 720p for Blu-Ray movies. A 32" screen is small enough where you don't need 1080p resolution. I have my Bravia hooked up to a PS3 and Xbox 360 with HDMI. The results are stunning. I have the HDTV hooked up to my Surround Sound system via Optical Audio.

I compared the L series and M series when shopping and learned the M-series does NOT have an optical audio out. It has a digital coaxial out plug.

Seriously...the image quality on this HDTV is primeau! If you mess around with the settings and feed the TV an HD source, you get really good results. I also have a 40 inch Sony Bravia XBR4. Is the image quality as good? No. But is the image quality of that HDTV, $1250 better? Absolutely Not.

I thought that the lack of a Bravia Engine chip would lead to unbalanced colors and distortion. No problems at all! IF you feed this baby an HD signal via its 2 HDMI ports, you're going to get a great picture.

Design wise, it looks like the XBR6 with its floating glass panels. This TV looks real classy and sexy. It is solidly built and looks at whole lot more expensive than $500.

This HDTV has a PC input. I have my laptop hooked up to the TV. I use a wireless keyboard and mouse to surf the web from bed!

Seriously...this is one awesome 32" HDTV. If you can afford $500, this is THE HDTV to buy. If you are looking for a 32" HDTV, then I definitely recommend this HDTV. It is a great value. It looks really classy and I guarantee you that image quality will please your eyes and your pocket book.

What a total farce, Blu ray beats HD.... HDMI Cables?? Compatibility???

$4500 dollars for NOTHING!! OK so I bought into the hype that Blu ray won the HD Race. I buy into the interoperability of SONY and THE hollywood ONLY serving HDMI Cable... I buy a new $3500 TV (Sony 1080P/24-52") and a new Sony Blue Ray Player and a new BLUE RAY FILMED MOVIE for three TIMES the price of a standard DVD and put them together only to discover that I have black lines (letterbox) on my TV, The picture is a little worse than a standard DVD, the menu system works like a $27 VCR. The "Interoperability" between the Sony TV and the SONY BD works about like free air digital TV. And the Audio is like listening to a 3 transistor radio...

What a total JOKE!! ANYONE CONSIDERING UPGRADING TO ALL THE "NEWEST" because of ALL THE HYPE, Leave your money in your pocket. Go buy a cheeseburger and put the remainder in a 401k. When what you have breaks, get new average price stuff. When you pay all the big bucks for all the best you get NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING!
Maybe someone else's BD/TV actually works (oh wait a minute, ALL BD is Based on SONY technology....)

Sony (who made my PSP, PS3, Nav System, TVx5, BD Player and PDA has seen the last of my credit card.

MY NEW $500 BD Player hooked up to my new $3500 52" LCD TV, wants to operate in PAN-N-Scan mode in order to utilize the other 30% of the $100 per square inch real estate I bought from sony.

I though Pan-N-Scan died with Beta Max....

In closing, you would get the exact same experience (Maybe better with a $27 480i DVD Player, a $99 "Home theater system" and a No Name Rear Projection 50" DONT BUY DONT BUY DONT BUY

Great TV! This is our second LCD HDTV. Our 1st is a 40" Samsung which we've been very happy with, but it cost 3x the cost of the Sony. Of course, that was a year and a half ago and prices have come down a lot since then.

This 32" was the perfect size for our bedroom. The picture is crystal clear even with it being hooked to an antenna. Very nice TV!
