Decent replacement antenna December 19, 2008 This is a decent replacement for a lost or broken pair of rabbit ears. It probably should not be considered for upgrade purposes though. I find it is marginally better than the OEM rabbit ears it replaced. It's a good antenna for the price, but the performance is nothing special. Don't expect miracles with a <$10 antenna.
Best Low-Cost Antenna December 18, 2008 This is just what the title says, a basic, low-cost indoor antenna. After purchasing antennas costing four and five times the price, I found this RCA basic antenna to be the best. I use it on my 19 inch Magnavox TV with an HDTV converter box. I get all the high def channels, even the ones my larger HDTV with the pricey antenna won't pick up at all. I don't even have to reposition it. I get all the analog stations, as well-crystal clear--no distortion. I live 20 miles from the nearest tower in a small suburb of Phoenix.
After buying higher-priced antennas with poor results, I gave up and went with this one and love it. The only thing I regret was not purchasing it on Amazon. I paid more at one of the local big-box stores.
Probably depends on your area... December 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wasn't able to pick up a single digital channel with this antennae and therefore obviously no HD channels either. I didn't do the research ahead of time to see where the various signals are coming from in my area... I just decided to get the cheapest one and see if I would get lucky. I would recommend doing some research first. Either that or only buy this one if you're already picking up a lot of the channels with your TV's built in antennae and just need that extra little boost to make it clearer.
Antenna review November 19, 2008 The product works well, although sometimes is incapable of picking up weak signals, due perhaps to the building structure. The signal captured is clear and neat. Good product.
Great little antenna for picking up HD locals August 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This very affordable digital antenna does a heck of a job picking HD local channels. My satellite provider does not have locals in my area (Indianapolis). I live 11-17 miles from the broadcast towers and have no landscape or building obstructions to interfere with the signal, so I went with a passive (versus a more expensive amplified) antenna. This antenna picks up CW, PBS, FOX, CBS, NBC, and ABC in HD with a signal strength of 77-98% (avg. ~88%). I have this antenna setting behind my 50" Panny Plasma (obscuring its massive ugliness) and connected through a ViP 722 (allowing the recording of OTA signals onto the DVR). The only cons (as previously mentioned in other reviews) is the size of the antenna (bigger than 3' x 3' when extended) and the short length of the coax connection cable (~3'). Overall, this antenna gives a big bang for a small buck.
