Product Description
Built on the same chassis as its upscale sibling the RD-6500 is a perfect receiver for the surround sound enthusiast on a budget. Its thoroughly modern design offers built-in decoder for Dolby Digital, fully adjustable Dolby pro Logic II, discrete wide-band amplifier and enough power to achieve reference levels in a typical home environment. You'll be rewarded with full rich sound, wide dynamic range and quiet operation - even from the surround channels. Audition it in your home and you'll see why Sherwood has been in the forefront of receiver design and manufacture since receivers began.

5 out of 5 stars outstanding   October 30, 2008
I brought this Sherwood 6500 for my bedroom and the sound is outstanding even at low sound settings.
I like it so much I've decided to buy another to replace the Kenwood KRV 5560 in my livingroom .

5 out of 5 stars For stereo, this is a best budget buy   July 9, 2008

Simple, powerful audio solution. I use mine with a 360 outputting 5.1 to the 6500. It downmixes the 5.1 to 2 channel and I have no complaints. For music, I use my laptop w/ winamp and the ogg-vorbis plug in to my Trends Audio UD-10 usb to coax converter into the 6500. It has a direct tone feature which allows my sound to go through untouched by the 6500 dac. Result is tremendous sound for a $120 receiver. I have a pair of av123 Rocket 550 MkIIs.

If you want hdmi or any video features this is not your receiver.

If you want a damn good sounding audio receiver for next to nothing, this is it. Great quality build.

Purchased this for my mom and she says it makes her surround sound even better than with her Kenwood receiver. Loves it.

5 out of 5 stars Just what I needed.   August 26, 2007
Novice - I needed a receiver that would consolidate multiple audio inputs and did not need to consolidate video inputs. This worked out well for me.

5 out of 5 stars Umm... it works?   May 12, 2007
I must admit, this is my first surround sound system. I can adjust the volume of my speakers individually with this... so I don't know what else to say about it. If you don't know anything about surround sound systems, then this works great for you.

I'd only suggest having HD installed on it. I don't have HD radio, but I always imagined that it would be cool.
