| Editorial Reviews:
Product Description One of the world's most popular, recognizable antennas, the TERK AM / FM Tower features a built-in amplifier that can be adjusted to optimum level to strengthen reception of weaker or distant stations, without overboosting stronger or closer stations. The Tower is the affordable way to improve both short and long-range radio reception.

Perfect !! January 6, 2009 I was amazed to get these results. This is the same as HD radio with only a 1 time cost...the antenna.I followed the instructions and best reception for me was floor mount, with 1 exception that should be added to the instructions; keep the supplied power wire seperate from the am/fm wires. i was real happy with the results and bought another 1.
If I could give this a zero, I would December 25, 2008 I bought this antenna today, because I was trying to improve the FM reception for certain of my favorite stations, without resorting to listening to them online, or spending lots of money getting HD radio. Well, this isn't even worth the plastic it's made of. I've never written a review on Amazon, but I don't want anyone to waste their money buying this. After fiddling with the antenna for a few hours, I decided to cannibalize another FM antenna wire (the cheap ones that come with a receiver), joining them together to make the one I'm using twice as long. Cost? $0.10 if I'm being generous. Result? Perfect. No static, no problems. Why buy this worthless thing? This antenna is going back to the store.
Works almost as good as not having any antenna at all November 7, 2008 I had this thing connected to my radio for quite a while, then one day my reception improved noticeably. I looked behind and the terk tower cable had fallen loose from the radio. So my radio worked better with NO antenna than with the Terk Tower.
I can only imagine that my issues are multi-path type problems and not signal strength. Whatever, this gadget didn't work for me. And it had that green light too!
It has a nice green light. November 6, 2008 This powered antenna picked up less than half the stations my unpowered wire dipole picked up. It's ok if you don't want to tack a dipole to your wall. The tricky part is that you have to turn it counter-clockwise to increase gain. Mine is several years old, so I don't know if they've changed that part of the design. I was able to confirm this as my Sangean HD radio has a signal strength meter on the FM and HD signals. Signal strength was REDUCED by turning the gain knob "up." A very confusing, silly design. It's better than nothing, but a properly mounted wire dipole is way better and way cheaper.
Worth less than a piece of wire. November 4, 2008
I replaced the "piece of wire" antenna that came with my radio with this thing. The terk was WORSE, no matter how I aimed it or turned it.
Calling this thing worthless is too generous. It had NEGATIVE worth in that it made my reception worse.
