Product Description In recent years, mainstream Americans have begun to come around to meditation in a big way-and scientific studies are suggesting that the physical and mental benefits are solid and real. But to many, it remains something mystical and inaccessible...and spiritually-oriented tomes on the market don't do much to make it easier.
As interest in meditation continues to grow, this book offers a simple, no-nonsense program to help beginners experience reduced stress and increased focus in only eight minutes a day. Designed by meditation expert and bestselling author Victor Davich, this program teaches the basic principles of meditation while clearing up the misconceptions and myths that too often get in the way.

Very Interesting Guide November 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Though some sections may have been a bit wordy, overall this book was very good in laying out some basic techniques of meditation and how to progress from there. Of course longer meditation sessions are always welcome, but it is difficult to find the time to do what you would like to do for many things, not just meditation, so I found this a valuable starting point since it was something that was doable in my schedule and got me started.
I am now trying to further my mediation practice, but this book was a definate help for me.

This really works. I also have a CD version which I play in the evenings. Mr. Davich guides you through simple meditation techniques which makes it better than most. I am a type A personality and find it very difficult to just sit down in a room and contemplate my navel as most teachers would have you do. On the CD, the author takes you through every step. You just listen and follow his instructions. And if it is late at nite I cheat and use it to fall asleep. No more Lunesta for me.
Long & drawn out beginning chapters... November 7, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This book takes forever to get to the parts on meditation. Too much repeating of itself in the first few chapters. Once the book gets into gear, I found it almost too basic, too general. I'm still going through the process described in the book, so we'll see what happens.
Worst Book about Meditation Ever November 1, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Please don't waste your money on buying this book. The real purose of meditation is to put you and keep you in what Eckhart Tolle calls "the Now." 8 minutes is never enough for that. It's actually rediculous to think that 8 minutes of meditation could do something for you. Follow Deepak Chopra's advice and meditate 2 times a day, each time for half an hour. Only that can have a real and lasting effect.
Just do it September 16, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son recommended this book to me because he knew I needed it. I've tried meditation before but I never seemed to get the hang of it. This book makes it simple. Simple enough for me to be willing to give it 8 minutes a day. Already I feel the accumulated effects. If you need to quiet your mind, and want to do it RIGHT NOW, then this is the book for you.
