Amazon.com Review
"The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again." Jordan's Wheel of Time series has uncountable fans, and those who are looking for an encyclopedic history and mythology of Rand al'Thor's world will enjoy this work, which fills in background rather than furthering the story. Also included are double-page spreads of Darrell K. Sweet's seven book jackets for the series.

Product Description
Since the debut of Robert Jordan's internationally bestselling series in 1990, The Wheel of Time has transported readers to a world so strikingly real, so rich in detail and complexity, it seems to rise from memory rather than a printed page. This essential companion to The Wheel of Time is for the millions interested in the history and the background of this incredible series-never-before-told legends, previously unknown peoples and lands, exotic beasts, and portents of what may come to pass.

With more than seventy new full-color paintings that include stunning new world maps, portraits of the central characters, landscapes, objects of Power, and national flags, this comprehensive guide is indispensable to any Robert Jordan fan

3 out of 5 stars So-so   November 26, 2008
This book contains an enormous amount of information about the world Robert Jordan created. The detail about the Age of Legends, the Forsaken, Shadowspawn, Aes Sedai, and other nations is great for diehard fans of the series.

The only problem with the content is that it doesn't include the later books. The cover art contained stops at A Crown of Swords (The Wheel of Time, Book 7), but it was published after The Path of Daggers (The Wheel of Time, Book 8), so I'm not sure how much of the series it covers. Obviously it would have been more helpful if it had been written after the final book.

The art inside can only be described as horrendous. I was hoping for some good illustrations of the characters I've been reading about, but the book covers are far better. The illustrations look like they were done by a child, most of the characters look the same.

5 out of 5 stars A great source for WoT fans!   February 15, 2008

I got this book after Robert Jordan's passing. I wanted as complete a set of WoT materials as I could find. I love the series and had heard of this book on the Dragonmount podcast. I have spent a lot of time thumbing through "The World of Robert JOrdan's The Wheel of Time". The book gives a lot of background to the story of Rand, his friends and enemies. Any hardcore fan will really like having this book.

1 out of 5 stars Horrible artwork ruins what could have been great   November 13, 2007

The artwork is, unfortunately, on par with the covers of the series. I never understood why Jordan and TOR couldn't get better art for the covers. And then when this book came out I was so incredibly disappointed to see the paintings and such were basically as bad as the covers of the series. No, they are actually worse. Nothing takes you out of a fantasy world more quickly when it looks fake or, frankly, just bad.
Hopefully those overseeing the Wheel of Time series after Jordan's death can get some better artists involved.
For instance, the art work in George R.R. Martin's Art of A Song of Ice and Fire book is a great example of the quality of art that Jordan's series deserves.

3 out of 5 stars Needs Update   September 19, 2007

The book is great, but would be better if it was updated. It only go to book 6. There are no drawings of new characters like Tuon. Nice to have though.

5 out of 5 stars Outstanding Resource   August 22, 2007

I wish I had had this book from the beginning of the Wheel of Time series. I try to put a little time between the books, so I often had to thumb through the previous books to remember different characters and things that happened. By the time I reached number 9, it was a real chore. That sparked me to find out if there was a companion book for the series. Well, there is, and it's very informative. Now everything I need or want to know about Jordan's fantastic world is easy to find. To anyone who enjoyed the first book and expects to continue on, I suggest that you buy this book right away.
