Amazon.com Review Holy guacamole! Skippyjon Jones is crazy-loco for dinosaurs! The kitty boy enters (via his closet) the land of dinosaurs in search of the fabled Skipposaurus. Instead he runs into his old amigos, the Chimichango gang. When a T-Mex threatens the pack, it's El Skippito, the great sword fighter, to the rescue. With yips and yowls, he drives the big baddie away, so all the dino-dudes can rattle their bones another day. This fourth entry in a series that Kirkus Reviews called "ay caramba, mucho fun," will win even more fans for the Siamese cat with oversize ears and an imagination to match. Pushing it December 7, 2008 OK. We have the original Skippy Jon Jones book. My little boy loved it. This book and the other ones she has done are really pushing it... stretching the concept way to far.. Adding "ito" to every single word gets super annoying. Your kid may like it, but they will not know what is going on because there is so much nonsense garbage in the middle of the book that makes no sense. Worse, you will have to read it to them multiple times and want to swallow some poison just to avoid doing so.
Silly Book for young and old kids (like myself) November 9, 2008 We bought this book with the CD. The author reads it and it really cracks me up. Her use of language is so funny. I did read a review about the stealing, and that is disheartening if you are very sensitive to those things, but the stealing of bones is really secondary to the story. In fact, until I read that review I didn't put two and two together. The rest is so whimsical. It is really about his imagination, and his quest with the dinosaurs. I would definitely recommend the CD where the author reads it aloud. Her use of language makes me laugh.
Great Read February 6, 2008 Another fun adventure for Skippyjon Jones. I would have rated this a 5, but I do not think it is as good as the first two books in the series. However, I still recommend this book and all of the other Skippyjon Jones books if you have young children. My kids just love these books and my son (age 7) likes them so much he will even read them himself. I would suggest reading the original story first so that children understand the character of Skippyjon since this book skips straight to the imagination with little explanation in between.
HERE IS HOW TO FIX THE CD January 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The CD is not broken it is just an MP3 file and will play on any computer or mp3 cd player. Just load into your computer save on itunes and burn to a disk.
publisher problem January 29, 2008 We absolutely love Skippy John Jones and this book is written and illustrated just as beautifully as the rest. However, I purchased this book and cd for my children for Christmas and when we recieved it the cd would not play nor was it even recognized as a cd in any player in our home. We sent it back for a replacement ( which Amazon is wonderful about - they even pay for shipping!)When we recieved our second book the cd was in the same condition that the first one was in. I called Amazon. The service was perfect except the employee was very difficult to understand as he had a very thick Indian accent. So my problem was really not solved and I ended up just returning the book without getting a replacement. I would recommend trying to find out if this problem has been fixed before ordering the book.
