Product Description

What's a Princess to do?

It's Mia's senior year, and things seem great. She aced her senior project, got accepted to her dream college(s), and has her birthday gala coming up . . . not to mention prom, graduation, and Genovia's first-ever elections.

What's not to love about her life? Well . . .

  • Her senior project? It's a romance novel she secretly wrote, and no one wants to publish it.
  • Prince Phillipe's campaign in the Genovian elections isn't going well, thanks to her totally loathsome cousin Rene, who decided to run against him.
  • Her boyfriend, J.P., is so sweet and seemingly perfect. But is he the one?
  • And her first love, Michael, is back from Japan . . . and back in her life.

With Genovia's and her own future hanging in the balance, Mia's got some decisions to make: Which college? Which guy? How can she choose? Especially when what she decides might determine not just the next four years, but . . . forever!

4 out of 5 stars A Satisfying Ending   January 9, 2009
I must admit I had my doubts about this series. I practically grew up with these books, but I was losing heart in them about halfway through the series. I actually ended up being the only one out of all of my friends to read all 10, and I'm very glad I did.

The book starts 2 years after Mia's last diary, and she's dealing with all the added stresses of being a senior. Forgive me if you're a die-hard fan, but I felt as though previous books had been too whiney. However, after two years in the story, there's definite character growth that's very satisfying to finally see. This end is now one of my favorite books, and it makes me like the others more. It's true, teenagers can be whiney. But everyone learns and matures, just like the characters in the Princess Diaries did. It's true Mia hasn't entirely changed or is completely mature, but hey, no one really is. We don't achieve perfect maturity in high school. That's what life is for.

I suggest this book to those who loved the first books in this series, even if you did give up.

5 out of 5 stars Doesn't Disappoint   January 8, 2009

If you have read the previous books in the series and enjoyed them, you'll love Forever Princess. If you hate "cliche and predictable" endings that are obviously going to happen in a ROMANCE book, then don't waste your time reading it let alone reviewing it.

Bottom line: I've been reading these books religiously for years and I think this was my absolute favorite, expect for maybe Princess in Love. Yes, you know how it's eventually going to end. But honestly, the events leading up to how it ended weren't exactly what I thought they would be. I was surprised by quite a few of the things that happened. Some parts were actually suspenseful and I literally could not put the book down - I read it in one sitting, only stopping to take bathroom breaks. I'm only disappointed that the series has ended!

5 out of 5 stars exciting climatic final tale   January 8, 2009

Genovia Princess Amelia is looking forward to the near future as she will soon turn eighteen, graduate high school, go to her senior prom, and attend an Ivy League School or an equivalent in Europe. Princess Amelia shows everyone her public upbeat persona especially with her kingdom about to hold their first elections.

Mia fears her make believe world is about to collapse. Grandmere plans to host her eighteenth birthday gala in a style fitting a royal, which means no fun. Her boyfriend J.P. has not asked her to the prom and for whatever dumb male reason he has not, she rationalizes though the clock is running out. Finally all those schools like Yale, Columbia and Harvard have not tendered a student seat although she has everyone think they did. Making matters more complicated is the triumphant return from Japan of her former boyfriend Michael, whose medical technology procedure has been adopted as the way to go. Finally, even her medieval romance novel (see RANSOM MY HEART) written under the pseudonym Meg Cabot has failed to find a publisher. Mia has less than one month before the big crunch implodes her world.

The tie in to the "co-authored" RANSOM MY HEART is fun and cute, as Meg Cabot and Mia Thermopolis write the novel, which in the final Princess Diaries' tale includes excerpts. Fans will appreciate the usual doubting Thomasina as Mia disparages herself for fear of failing even as she has grown from the frightened teen eleven episodes ago to understanding the significance of a strong front to hide a queasy stomach. The audience will be elated with the climatic final tale wondering if all will go right as the heroine turns eighteen.

5 out of 5 stars Wonderful Conclusion   January 7, 2009
I enjoyed every sentence of Princess Mia's wonderfully quirky diary entries. In this conclusion to the long-running Princess Diaries series, awkward situations and romantic moments abound. As the last few weeks of Mia's senior year come to a close, she has to deal with her father's election, prom, her romance novel, and of course, her ever confused feelings about Michael and JP. Some will call this book cliched and predictable. I however, enjoy happy endings. If you like books where the hero and heroine remain parted forever or one of the central characters dies, then this book is not for you! The end of the book is satisfying in all ways and has reaffirmed my lifelong dream to one day meet Meg in person. The only problem is, as when any series comes to a close, that the ending comes as bittersweet. It is satisfying, but I would love to see more! Hopefully if we pester Meg Cabot with enough emails, she will relent and give us more Mia Thermopolis! Hurrah for the happily ever after!

4 out of 5 stars A satisfying finale to a great series   January 7, 2009
In the final installment of Princess Dairies, Princess Mia Thermopolis goes through some pretty intense and stressful times that all students go through- choosing a college to go to after graduating from high school. But Mia has got more on her plate than she can deal with; she's stressed about her father's political campaign. She's worried about her repeatedly rejected novel that she has written for her final senior project, the extravagant party Grandmere is throwing her for her upcoming eighteenth birthday, and oh, the fact that Michael Moscovitz has come back from Japan, and she suddenly misses sniffing his neck when she already has a boyfriend whom she actually cares about. How will Mia solve her entangled issues in this gripping finale, and will she achieve the self-actualization she so wanted to fulfill at the outset of the series? Read to find out.

Although the ending was predicable, the book was thoroughly entertaining. Avid fans of Princess Diaries will not be disappointed by this finale. I have practically grown up with the princess diaries, as I started reading them when I first entered high school, and so I thought many of the book's part were very nostalgic. So sad to see the series end, but very glad it ended satisfyingly.
