5 out of 5 stars Approachable   December 26, 2008
It presented a very approachable way of writing, and I liked that it provided exercises.

5 out of 5 stars How to get started --- and keep going   November 23, 2008
Whether you are a published writer, or are still struggling to make it into print, Gail Carson Levine's book is a must read. Even though it is primarily written for young people, I find the exercises and advice on the writing process extremely useful. In addition,it is just a delightful book to read. Would that I had her skill with the written word Things I Learned from My Grandmother About Leadership and Life: (How to Light a Fire Under People Without Burning Them Out) would have been a better book.

"Writing Magic" should be on every writer's bookshelf.

3 out of 5 stars Writing Magic   October 19, 2008
I thought writing magic was a very good book but that it was meant more for younger kids. The advice was useful for writing stories and it was really cool to learn how to write from my favorite author. If you are in 3rd, 4th, 5th, and even 6th or 7th grade i would highly recommend this book if you are interested in being a writer. I would still recomend this book to older people but wouldn't base everything i write on it.
