Too long - very dangerous... December 12, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
My son was choking, and I didn't know what to do. Thankfully I had this book nearby....or so I thought! By the time I read the whole thing and learned how to call 911, my kid was blue in the face. Thanks to this book, we're now waiting for him to wake from a coma. The illustrations were great, though. I laughed a lot while I was reading it...
A MUST HAVE! November 11, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
This is the most awesome book! All children should have this in their library of books. It is a wonderful teaching aid and our grandchildren have learned in an emergency to call 911! Please purchase and please tell other moms & grandparents about it! Make your children safe!
911 Basics October 3, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am employed as a 911 Dispatcher and when I saw this book, I had to get it for my newborn granddaughter. While it is written for a toddler, not an infant, I expect it to teach her when to pick up the phone and call for help. It's written on the level of a small child and explains how public servants are there to help them. A fellow dispatcher is expecting her first child, and I just had to pick up one for her as well.
Great book, but... August 14, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I love this book. I love any book that enables me to teach my child anything about safety. This book allows my daughter to see the keypad and dial the numbers just like on a real phone. It has a very simple "story" and is easy for her to understand. My ONLY complaint is that it's not as real-life as I would like it to be. On a REAL 911 call, the operator generally answers and says "911-What is your emergency" or something to that effect. It seems silly to me that the sound effects in this book say "911-Let's go!!!" and then blares sirens and fire truck horns. I just think that it should be closer to a real life situation since 911 is a serious phone call. Other than that one tiny thing, I think this is a great book to assist kids in the importance of dialing 911 and learning that it's just for emergencies and not for playing!!
Great for young kids! June 9, 2008 I highly recommend this book for toddler age kids, it allows them to dial 911 and gives different reasons for calling for help. The pictures are for young people, they are not scary or intimidating! The classroom teacher made a lesson plan from this book after my son brouhgt it in for show and tell!
