Good Cookbook November 28, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I tend to modify all recipes, but I really appreciate the dietary guide - esp. for counting carbs. I wanted some fresh ideas for everyday meals where I could present good meals that fit my daughter's needs. My daughter, who has juvenile diabetes, is a teenager who is very active and loves good, healthy food. This was a good choice for us. By the way, the whole family has enjoyed these recipes.
Easy, everyday diabetic cookbook November 3, 2008 This cookbook is an easy tool in everyday cooking for diabetics or those who need to be sugar/carb concsious. The recipes are simple and healthy without being bland and boring. I would recomend this book for anyone who is looking for nutritional recipes that don't take a lot of effort. The nutritional facts are also clearly marked on the page of every recipe.
Simple, Delicious, Convenient September 11, 2008 This is a great cookbook for really simple, convenient tasty recipes (as are all of Ms Clegg's books.) She does a great job combining fresh ingredients with a few packaged convenience foods. It's nice to know that there can be a healthy, delicious dinner on the table in 30 minutes (or so). The taco soup is one of our favorites!
I will say that this is not a "natural" diabetes cookbook. Still, I use it frequently and make changes or adaptations to fit it into our organic lifestyle.
Cookbooks can be expensive but this one is not and you get a lot of good, usable recipes for your money.
Far Less than expected August 29, 2008 0 out of 10 found this review helpful
I should have gone to a store to look over the books I ordered. I ordered them on a recommendation by those that reviewd them. I'm not happy with either book. They are diabetic cook books and probably will be rarely used, if at all.

My daughter was diagnosed last October with Type 1 diabetes and I've had to revise a lot of my cooking. It has been a challenge, especially having to configure calorie and carb counts in everything I cook. This cookbook is very good in my opinion. Healthy recipes, all nutritional stats included, and oh, my goodness, the Chicken and Sausage Gumbo rocks!! I'm definitely pleased with it.
