4 out of 5 stars good buy!   October 4, 2008
This cooling pad may look and feel flimsy and cheap, but it works great! It's smaller than my 15 inch wide screen laptop, but it doesn't bother me. I actually like how compact and flat it is compared to some other ones. The fans are really quiet (I can't hear the fans at all!) so I would have to periodically put my hand under the laptop to make sure they're both working. I've had it for almost a month now, using it at least 8 hrs a day and there hasn't been any problems with it. It's a simple cooling pad that serves its purpose pretty well, I'm happy with it!

5 out of 5 stars From The Sandbox   May 11, 2008
I bought one of these cooling pads 1 year ago and it's still performing it's function for my 12" Dell XPS 1210. I chose this one over others because it's dimensions were absolutely dead on for my laptop's footprint. It's light weight and thin, so it fits easily in my backpack with the laptop. The price was right too.

As for performance, it does very well in it's intended purpose. I had no need for a built in USB hub/replicator or typhoon force air flow, though this pad does provide sufficient air flow to keep my laptop cool when processor and graphics card demands are stressed. It can be used with a external power supply (not included), but works just fine off my laptop's USB 2.0 port. I'm in very dusty conditions and I was leary of the consumer feedback on low mean bearing failure rates, but the fan bearings have held up well to the elements. My average use of this cooling pad has been about 12-15 hours a day, 7 days a week over the last year (approx 5000 hours). It works well on the lap in a car or on the plane since the incoming air for the fans enters from the rear of the cooling pad, not from the underside, as with some pads. If picking the laptop and cooling pad up from either end alone, it can cause the fan blades on that side to contact the housing and bind. Fan noise levels aren't really noticable in an office environment, or with mild-moderate ambient noise (like watching a DVD, or playing a game). I would not recommend this pad for a laptop larger than a 14/14.1" due to it's size and construction.

The reason for this review? Well...it appeared that the fan bearings were failing this morning, which lead me to look here for a replacement. But, I gave blowing the dust out one more try and it spooled right up, and quietly at that.

1 out of 5 stars Good While It Lasted   May 6, 2008
And then the cheap wiring died on me and I have to go and buy another notebook cooler. I used mine most often on my lap so the wires were being moved around frequently. If you plan to use this as a stationary cooler then its probably better. But who buys a notebook for stationary use?

UPDATE: I have just been on the internet for 10 hours in search of a better laptop cooler and my final decision: I'm buying another Tripp Lite. I guess this one isn't so bad after all. I'm planning to heavily duct tape the wires to the cooler so that the wiring is at less risk of being damaged this time around. I extend my 1 star review to all laptop coolers in the world and update this review to 2 stars. THIS IS AS GOOD AS IT GETS.

3 out of 5 stars OK for small laptops.   May 3, 2008
I have a 15.4' Dell Inspiron 1526 and the pad seems to be too small. Maybe it's OK for smaller laptops but for mine it does not do a great job.

2 out of 5 stars opcional   April 15, 2008
Este producto no lo recomiendo, al principio era bien, pero despues de unos dias empezo hacer mucho ruido, la compre para mi lapto de 17", pero es preferible usarlo para las lapto de 15"
