Exceptional quality but at a cost September 11, 2008 Excellent options and quality. A little pricey Make sure you are ok with the wide gamut before buying. For movies (blu-ray) I use the Nvidia panel to bring down saturation to ~35%. Otherwise faces are unnaturally pink.
Photoshop is a must.
The Monitor My Wife has always Wanted September 9, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
We are amateur photographers. We take classes from nationally known photographers. We ask them questions about the best equipment. Out of one of these sessions, we learned about this monitor.
Its performance (91% of Adobe RGB) and price are above comparison. Other monitors of this type go for thousands more.
It was her recent birthday present and my stock now is very high.
Astonishing color, HDCP enabled, can play Blu-Ray July 24, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
I got this for editing HD video and photographs. I wanted 1920 pixels with a wide color gamut, and this monitor definitely delivered. Breathtaking color. I was watching the BBC planet earth series in HD and it was amazing.
Four stars because the monitor had a slightly dimmed band around the edge. I don't think a monitor this expensive should have any visible luminance variation. I returned it and got an EIZO monitor. Eizo CE and CG LCD panels are the gold standard.
NEC MulitSync LCD2690WUXi June 4, 2008 2 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently purchased a NEC MulitSync LCD2690WUXi to replace my good, ol' Apple 21 inch studio monitor...which held up really well for many more years than it had a right to. I'm an illustrator who sits in front of a monitor for 50-60 hours every week. This new NEC monitor is a treat to work with. Great color, easy screen management and a generous work area for a very reasonable price.
Identical to LaCie 526 May 26, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Not only is it identical to the LaCie 526. Even the online manuals - from NEC and LaCie - are identical. It's a beautiful monitor, but it's weird that it's sold for such different prices.
