Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Wireless-N Gigabit Router is three devices in one package. There's the Wireless Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There's also a built-in 4-port full-duplex 10/100/1000 switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. The Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed cable or DSL Internet connection. The Access Point built into the Router uses the very latest wireless networking technology, Wireless-N (draft 802.11n). By overlaying the signals of multiple radios, Wireless-N's Multiple In, Multiple Out (MIMO) technology multiplies the effective data rate. The robust signal travels farther, maintaining wireless connections much farther than standard Wireless-G. Unlike other speed-enhanced technologies, Wireless-N can dynamically enable this double-speed mode for Wireless-N devices, while still connecting to other wireless devices at their respective fastest speeds. In congested areas, the Good Neighbor mode ensures that the Router checks for other wireless devices in the area before gobbling up the radio band. To help protect your data and privacy, the Router can encode all wireless transmissions with industrial-strength 256-bit encryption. It can serve as your network's DHCP Server, has a powerful SPI firewall to protect your PCs against intruders and most known Internet attacks, and supports VPN pass-through. Configuration is a snap with the web browser-based configuration utility. The incredible speed of Wireless-N makes it ideal for media-centric applications like streaming video, gaming, and Voice over IP telephony, and gives you plenty of headroom to run multiple media-intense data streams through the network at the same time with no degradation in performance. With the Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router at the center of your home or office network, you can share a high-speed Internet connection, files, printers, and multi-player games.

1 out of 5 stars Unfortunately Junk   December 2, 2008
Oh dear. Initial setup was mixed - the wizzard is straightforward, but does not allow allow setup of basic security like not broadcasting SSID etc. Not impressed.

After a few weeks of operation as feared the unit not only runs hot but locks up daily requiring a power reset. It is in a well ventilated area and this should not be an issue.

I had stopped purchasing linksys some time back to to these kind of unreliability issues. I wish I had stayed with that policy.

1 out of 5 stars Not Mac-compatible   November 26, 2008
I have a mixed Mac/Win network at home. Got this because of my MacBook Pro with 802.11n Airport Extreme card. Works fine in an unprotected mode - but who is dumb enough to leave a wireless AP wide open? When WPA/2 is turned on, I have to manually connect to it each time the MBP wakes or restarts, and my wife's older PowerBook (Airport .11b card) won't connect to it at all. My trusty/crusty old WRT54GL works just fine. Why did you break this, Linksys? And I don't think this is a fluke - I got a (Linksys) WRVS4400N and it had the same wireless connection issues. Sent 'em both back.

5 out of 5 stars My new Linksys Router   November 16, 2008

I bought this new Linksys Router when my old router started acting up. The new one started working when I plugged it in, and is still on the job.
I really like it, and should I have a problem, the Linksys people are hard working and courteous.

The router was very easy to configure and performs very well. The EasyLink Advisor software stopped working after applying an upgrade. This seems to be a common problem without a published fix.

5 out of 5 stars WRT310N Wireless router - Great Range, easy to install   October 30, 2008

Love the range and speed I get from this router, and the installation was a cinch. I use it in our condominium Clubhouse and pool area for home owner use and direct internet access to our security system from the Internet.
