Product Description The PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter PLE200 lets you turn the existing power lines in your home or office into a high-speed network. Now you don't have to drill through the walls and climb through the attic or cellar to install network cables - just use the wires that already run through the building! The PowerLine AV Adapter interfaces Ethernet devices to the HomePlug AV PowerLine network standard. Just plug the PowerLine AV Adapter into the wall, and connect your Ethernet-equipped device to the Adapter using the included network cable, and you've turned your whole house into network infrastructure! Attach more computers to the network by simply plugging them into the wall anywhere in the house, using more PowerLine AV Adapters.Once your computers are connected to the network, they can share resources like printers and storage space, and all kinds of files - music, digital pictures, and documents. With up to 100Mbps data rates, you can play lag-free head-to-head network computer games, and run media-centric applications like streaming video and Voice over IP telephony. And if you use a PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter to interface one of the famous Linksys Broadband Routers from your cable or DSL Internet connection to your PowerLine AV network, you'll be able to get to the Internet from any computer in the house. The Linksys PowerLine AV Ethernet Adapter is the perfect solution for high-speed, "no new wires", home or office networking.

Be careful the latest firmware may zap your PLE200 October 30, 2008 I have used PLE200 for some time and was extremely pleased with their performance. I recently added one which unfortunately had the new firmware installed. It would not communicate with the original PLE200. My conclusion, I must apply the new firmware to the old units, what other conclusion could one come to. I proceeded and installed the new firmware but to my amazement not only were the units not communicating with each other I could now make no connection to either. Well don't worry I said Linksys will have a solution. The Live chat said it was a "known" issue and an engineer would call. Great...I waited and yes 48 hours later I got a call. The result- "Tough, it does happen" the engineer said, maybe 1 in 150 but I was just unfortunate that it zapped 100%. OK so what to do.... "bin them" was the reply. "Buy some new ones there is nothing else you can do".
So much for being a "valued" customer.
I reckon I may as well dump the new one as well. Would you risk buying two more? I couldn't see any indication of which firmware was installed.
Conclusion:
Good product but poor performance by Linksys.
powerline needs improvement October 24, 2008 I never could get it to work, despite hours of effort and contact with customer support, so I returned it. Their final input was that it wouldn't work for me because different electrical outlets I would use were on different circuit breakers in the main electrical panel. Find much discussion about implementation failure at the LinkSys customer forums.
Greatest Thing Since Sliced Bread - Truly Plug & Play July 26, 2008 Where has this been all my life? This is 1000x better than any wireless solution.
Takes 2 minutes to set up. Plug it in. Lightening fast. Problem-free.
These types of devices should get a lot more press than they do. I used it to hook up an XBOX to Xbox live. I get poor wireless reception in my home for some reason. Not only did this solve the problem but for cheaper and zero hassle.
No Issues.... June 11, 2008 Followed the instructions to set the network password on each device, plugged them in and they just worked. I use these to boost the transfer speed between 2 Tivo boxes that previously were wireless only. Amazing the speed difference. They work as advertised!
Easy Set-up April 6, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
For someone who is technologically challenged, the set-up was extremely simple. The whole process took less than 10 minutes. I purchased it in order to get Direct TV on demand and it works perfectly. Great product.
