Lexmark X6570 September 1, 2008 This is a nice printer loaded with features. The Fax capability over our normal phone lines works great. This could be improved by making the number of rings befor the fax pick up user selectable. Wireless printing is great. The Scan function is somewhat troublesome in that it sometimes locks up. but this may be an operator problem.
Bad purchase August 19, 2008 This printer appears to be a good purchase for the money, but you will spend a lot in ink compared to comparable printers. Plus, no one allows refills for the cartridges (probably because Lexmark won't allow it). Also, it goes into "save mode" often and it has to be unplugged and replugged back in to reset (thus losing faxes and wasting time). The scanner works well. This would be okay if you didn't use it often.
Good printer, great functionality..wireless a plus July 4, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've read the reviews on here and have to say it seems a mixed bag for the Lexmark X6570. My experience however, has been exemplary. The printer setup easily, the wireless took less than five minutes to setup and the printing is uniformly good. Good, not great. I do experience some fuzzy characters and have had occasion where I'm printing a multi-page document and the sheet must feed in slightly crooked because that's how it comes out printed: slightly crooked. But I will give it the benefit of the doubt; it's humid in North Carolina and both of my printer's paper 'bends' in the feed tray after sitting for a day or two, so I don't think it problematic.
I will agree with everyone, the ink doesn't last as long as expected. But I feel that seems to be all of the manufacturers mantra these days...sell a printer, perhaps at even less than a breakeven point and make up the difference on ink. I have a current Epson multi-function that consumes ink almost exactly as quickly as the Lexmark. And if you ever complain about Lexmark cartridge prices, hold the complaints until you price Epson ink...it's about a third more. Fortunately the Lexmark only consumes black on most prints...the Epson consumes the color cartridges evenly when printing black only! I print mostly black and the Lexmark simply smokes the Epson on cartridge life from that standpoint. But the Epson smokes the Lexmark on color print quality...so I use the Epson for color prints, presentations, etc. and the Lexmark for general purpose office output.
The wireless, in my case at least, couldn't have been easier and that's a major win for me as that was the singular reason I bought this printer. The talking dialogue when you submit a print job is a nice touch and the management of the printer is really nice when you access the administrator page via a browser (and believe me, that one is buried in the CD documenation...thought I'd chime in here and maybe someone will be helped by knowing it's even available). I just got lucky and was looking at my wireless devices via my Cisco software and saw an 'advanced option' under the printer icon and it took me straight to the administrator panel. If I'd have relied on Lexmark for that tidbit I'd have never found it.
Overall, a good, serviceable wireless printer. I really don't think anyone has a better printer that offers wireless, document feeders and duplex printer for the price point.
software is a bit weak but printer is nice July 4, 2008 The printer has been great. The duplex and auto feeder is a nice feature with no problems so far. My two complaints, however, are the software that came with the printer. Trying to scan documents has not been easy with the software not giving much in the way of options. The other complaint is that the wireless drops off and will not reconnect with my computer. So, I just keep it pluged in with the USB.
Works Well but rinks Ink June 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Overall this printer works well. It does drop the wi-fi connection after extended period of non-use, but I can deal with that. The print quality is fair.
My biggest complaint, which is leading me to get rid of this printer, is that it drinks ink at an alarming rate. From an economical stand-point, the initial price is great, but the ink costs are killing me. This printer is as good as gone for me.
