Amazon.com Take equal parts Laguna Beach, The Real World, and Melrose Place and you get MTV's reality series 8th & Ocean. Set in the oh-so-glamorous world of modeling (Miami style), the show focuses on the lives (and loves) of 10 hotties trying to become the next Gisele Bundchen and Jason Lewis (Sex and the City). The cast is young, brash, and entertaining, although at times not very realistic about their chosen careers. One of the girls is averse to modeling risque clothes for photo shoots. She seems to forget that she's a model. In Miami. And that most of the civilians walking around on the beach are flaunting less clothing than she is. As for Vinci, the resident heartthrob, he seems intent on sabotaging his own burgeoning career by being forever late (if he shows up at all). 8th & Ocean has plenty of eye candy to offer in the 10 episodes here. Between the fast editing, hormonally charged vignettes, and emo background music meant to make viewers pine along with the cast, it's easy to get carried away with the kids' dramas. Which two will sleep together? Will Sabrina's skin problem ever clear up? Will any of them become household names? No, they're not life or death dilemmas. But for the majority of folks who will never be mistaken for a model, it's nice to see that even the beautiful people are plagued by insecurities. And zits. --Jae-Ha Kim

Great DVD November 8, 2006 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I got it on sale which made it even more awesome. I don't like the fact that all the ethnic people (Sorry Vinci you know how you're marketed sometimes even though your a hot puerto rican) are on the back and the white people are on the front. I'm white but I even noticed it before my friend did. You can barely tell it's 8th and ocean anyway cause the name is small or just blended to well.
What's gonna suck when you buy it is on the first disc you have the previews to freakin' laguna beach and the hills and you can't skip over it so it's like walk away for three minutes and come back. (hate you guys for that crap. first time great but IT SUCKS TO WATCH IT.)
The shows are great. I wish they'd had an extended show or a never before aired show. The dvd goes through really fast. Man this is such a great show.
Deleted scenes are QUICK. great but 2 QUICK!!!! The TRL appearance is on it, which I'm offended by b/c none of the people i watched the show for are on it. (No offense Brit, Twins, and Vinci)
The MTV overdrive is on it which is GREATTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!
The bios could have been better. I would have liked to see a resume or some pictures or somethin!!!
There's an audition section which is great!!!! Loved Talesha's the best. The twins started arguing again. Come on girls!!!
I always see TRacie on tv now and I love her I'm pissed she left the show. But I see her on everything. I saw Vinci in an underwear ad. are they doing a season 2?????
great tv show October 9, 2006 Great t.v show. On the trailer it showed a lot of clips missing that weren't aired, where are they? how come the whole cast isn't on the cover? Vinci is awesome, just misunderstood i love his interviews, love brianna and tracie. adrien did he ever get that role?
South Beach at its best... September 20, 2006 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
8th & Ocean takes place in South Beach,FL at the IRENE MARIE modeling agentcies. In this lux. life of the rich and famous lives drama and competition in modeling. The new comer Britt is what most would call a good girl. But instead she stuck to her morals and fought for what she belived in! AWESOME JOB, BRITT!!!!
Take a dip in the "Ocean" September 17, 2006 7 out of 9 found this review helpful
I'm not a 15 year old girl, and i absolutely LOATHE Laguna Beach and its fakeness, but i really enjoyed the first season of 8th & Ocean. I think the reason i enjoy 8 is because the people on 8 have to make a living and make their own way in the world, while on laguna the kids are spoiled whiny ill behaved brats. SUMMARY, Good girl Britt joins the Irene Marie Modeling Agency in Miami and tries to advance her modeling career while hanging on to her morals. Britt moves in to an apartment shared with other models such as Tracie who at 24 is no longer the fresh face she used to be and whose opportunities are drying up. Also living in the models apartment are feuding twins Kelly and Sabrina, (whose parents must have been CHARLIES ANGELS fans), who have to deal with sibling jealousy and ups and downs of their cereers while being at each others throats, i mean if you can't trust your sister who can you trust. Irene also has to deal with super hot, super FLAKY male model Vinci who is super unreliable. So will Britt be able to keep her morals or fall prey to the sharks that are attracted to fresh meat? Tune in to see. EP
What a beautiful smile, can it stay for a while? - 8th & Ocean theme June 29, 2006 2 out of 10 found this review helpful
LOVE this show! Vinci is sooo hot and Britt is sooo beautiful. Highly reccommend this and Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County season 1 (Kristin Cavallari, Stephen Colletti, Lauren Conrad) and season 2 (Alex Murrel, Jason Wahler, Taylor Cole) both on dvd.
