5 out of 5 stars Ashton's Superb!   October 28, 2008
This debut album for Ashton Shepherd is amazing. Her voice is strong, unique, and beautiful.
If you enjoy strong, solid country music you will find yourself loving this cd. I highly recommend this to all country or non country fans.

5 out of 5 stars Ashton Shepard is REAL Country   September 28, 2008

Ashton Shepard is REAL country, not that fluffed-up pop stuff like the insipid Taylor Swift. Her songs remind me of older Loretta Lynn works, particularly the stories. "I know my obligations, and believe me, they're met - but I ain't dead yet" is classic. She's almost a throw-back to when country music talked about everyday, hard-time life instead of the annoying jingoist, fake-evangelist Toby Keith garbage.

Buy Ashton Shepard - she'll be on the top of your playlist from the first song!

5 out of 5 stars A Slushin' Good Time   August 22, 2008

When I first saw her video for "Sounds So Good", I didn't think much of the song at the time. I liked her first single "Takin' Off This Pain" but I didn't hear enough of it to warrant buying the CD. However, after a second watch of the video for "Sounds So Good" and the catchy refrain of "Nothing like the sound of real country music, c'mon turn it up," I was completely hooked. After listening to some of the snippets on the CD, I decided to buy the entire album and I'm VERY happy with that purchase. This is real country music and Ashton is nothing short of amazing with her songwriting skills and twangy, wonderful voice. I mean, c'mon, who can come up with a line like "There ain't nothing like the sound of a cooler slushin' on the bed of your truck" and not sound cheesy??? You got it, Ashton Shepherd, and I think she will be around for a LONG time coming.
