| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com "Poor, Poor Pitiful Me" is the first single from Terri Clark's Just the Same, but the arrangement is so close to the 1978 hit version that the song makes her seem like just another Linda Ronstadt imitator--and Clark is more special than that. A far better example of her strengths is "Emotional Girl." From the title, you might expect a weepy ballad, but from the first rocking guitar riff, it's a swaggering challenge to any male who would cope with her uninhibited feelings. Clark is not about poetry, irony, and social commentary; she's about the sort of wisecracking, in-your-face country-rockers that have traditionally been a male domain. When she tells an overeager lover to "Hold Your Horses," the grit in her voice implies that she's not opening negotiations but drawing a line in the sand. --Geoffrey Himes

"I Never Could Do Anything With Half My Heart" April 16, 2007 Terri Clark's 2nd album "Just The Same" is just the same as her 1st album... Absolutly F**ing Brilliant!!!
Great CD! October 20, 2003 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have all of Terri Clark's CDs. She is a remarkable entertainer. Staying true to herself and not following others in her industry to pop, she continues to show her fans and others just why she is so loved by her fans. Terri is the epitome of womanhood in it's finest form. This is just another of her fine works.
Entertaining and very enjoyable September 15, 2002 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
Terri has achieved a measure of success in country music without ever becoming a major star, yet her albums are always of a high quality. This is my favorite. It has a great mix of uptempo and slower songs.Poor poor pitiful me may follow the Linda Ronstadt arrangement in general terms, but Terri's version is country, wheras Linda's version was pop/rock. All the other songs are original, co-written by Terri with various others. Neon flame is an amusing song in which Terri explains to her man that the man she sometimes sees at the bar isn't a threat. It's a piece of fun which (like the man at the bar) is not to be taken too seriously. ... Terri is more downbeat on Keeper of the flame, in which she senses her man is not that interested in her, but overall, this is a very upbeat album. I find it highly entertaining - and that, after all, is what music is supposed to be about.
Pale Imitation July 28, 2002 1 out of 3 found this review helpful
After garnering solid goodwill with her debut, it would only be logical that Terri Clark would follow that set with an album following that blueprint fairly closely, which is what she does. It's too bad that the abundance of just-average material littered throughout fails to distinguish itself as anything other than a hollow shell of its' former self(the former self being the first album). She does start off strong, with both 'Emotional Girl' and her highly underrated cover of 'Poor,Poor Pitiful Me' reminding us of her way with uptempo fare, and the title track is a nice companion piece to the previous set's 'If I Were You'. Unfortunately, we also have dreck like 'Neon Flame' and 'Twang Thang', which are not only less-than-thrilling compositions, but show the Canadian Clark affecting her twangy singing to the point of irritation. Overall, this remains the least essential of Clark's recordings.
