Amazon.com essential recording It's easy to understand why this is one of the most intense, heartfelt albums that Reba McEntire has ever recorded. It came on the heels of a plane crash that killed her road manager and six band members. Though McEntire channels her sense of loss into these songs, her restraint is what makes these performances so memorable. Her voice is powerful and taut with emotion as she grapples with the tangled despair of the title tune and "Is There Life out There"--both back-to-back No. 1 singles. Other highlights include McIntire's fabulous rendition of the 1973 Vicki Lawrence hit, "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia." --Bob Allen

Tugged At My Heart Strings June 4, 2008 I have to echo what many have written here and add that if you can listen to "If I Had Only Known" and not have at least a bit of a tear in your eyes and a pull at your heartstrings, you have no heart. An absolutely amazing song and for it alone, I bought this album! I had played the CD just by chance at my cousin's house and had to have it because of this song!
Well worth owning and I am NOT a huge country fan by any means.
Reba is so amazing February 7, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
I own just about most of everything Reba has released and this cd was so dear to my heart. She has gone through so much in her career and has survived. #1 in my heart!
Very Good Music July 15, 2006 This is one of the best CD's Reba has ever recorded in her career. Every song on this CD is a winner. From For My Broken Heart to If I Had Only Known (Which could have been a single.) Reba really sings her heart out on these songs and you can feel the hurt in her voice also. I lost my father 2 1/2 years ago and this CD really helps me through some rough times. She does a good rendetion of Vicki Lawrence's The Night The Lights Went Out In Georgia. The Video is also wonderful. Another one of my favorite songs on the CD is The Greatest Man I Never Knew. It is about a girl whose father never had time to listen to his family and I feel he missed out on a lot from his family and daughter. It didn't stop his daughter from loving her father. This CD is for anyone who has had a sad time in their life. It can really help you through a lot of pain. GOOD JOB REBA!!!
If Only I Had Known October 27, 2005 What a wonderful album.I have listen to it a lot.Reba knows how to sing a song to make it your own.The song "If Only I Had Known" Means a lot to me.It has special meaning. You will not be disappointed in this album.

If ever there were a quinticential Reba McEntire album, "For My Broken Heart" would be the one! The album is dripping with raw emotion! It produced 2 #1 singles and has sold over 4 millions copies, making it her most successful studio album. It's no wonder really. The album is nothing short of a masterpiece. No words can actually describe how amazing this album is! I think the 5 STAR rating proves it all!
