Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
The Bacon Brothers say it best on this hilarious CD's title track: "Poultry in motion is a beautiful thing." So is a record that grabs you by the funnybone from its opening (the Seldom Herd's "Cows") and doesn't let go till the final note is clucked. Sandra Boynton, whose illustrated board books have become as much a part of every toddler's reading list as Mother Goose, makes a convincing case here that authors can succeed brilliantly as very silly songwriters. Meryl Streep, Laura Linney, Kevin Kline, Natasha Richardson, and fourteen other performers all qualify as contenders for king and queen of the coop, and they whoop it up enough to guarantee the most enjoyable sing-along ever. --Tammy La Gorce

5 out of 5 stars Poultry in motion, it's a beautiful thing!   December 6, 2008
This is one of our favorite CDs in the car because I love it as much as my kids do. My daughter is 9 and is old enough to understand why some of the lyrics are really funny. She cracks up when the Aardvarks sing their song. My son is 3 and simply loves the music and the songs. He named his Webkinz pet Bob after the pets in "Fifteen Animals". And we have had to sing "Snuggle Puppy" to him every night since we got this CD. I would recommend this CD along with the others in the Boynton collection to anyone with kids, a sense of humor, or both.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome, danceable, singable, fun   December 5, 2008
Just bought this on a whim for my 15 month old grandaughter -- the Philadelphia caught my eye as my sister lives there. It took me a while to try to figure out what the musical review thing was all about (I think I was expecting stage directions and dialog) but once I got home and popped it in the CD player...I was fine. I was dancing right from the start and LOVE the Bacon Brothers and Kevin Kline -- all of it. I'm sure my grandaughter and I will enjoy it together. I'll get another copy for HER house....

5 out of 5 stars We love it!   May 29, 2008
We received this as a gift last year and just love it! My three and four year old boys love to listen and sing along! And it doesn't get on MY nerves...very important! This is a great, FUN CD.

5 out of 5 stars Philadelphia Chickens music CD   May 2, 2008
This is a fun CD and if it weren't for the words, you wouldn't know you were listening to a children's recording. It is like listening to a Broadway musical with a little pop thrown in as the singers have good quality and the instruments are varied. Not every song/singer sounds the same, which is a nice change from the usual "wee sing silly" etc.

5 out of 5 stars Loved it!!!!   January 3, 2008
Absolutely loved this CD. All of the songs were wonderful and entertaining. Caught my little girl's interest. Snuggle Puppy is now her favorite song.
