Although they were probably the band that most transformed rock from a singles medium to an album-oriented form, the Beatles also released many singles and EP tracks that never made it onto albums. In the U.S., Capitol turned the group's early LPs, through Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, into compilations, more or less, throwing the hit singles onto the vinyl to augment the album tracks. When the label later released the U.K. albums on CD, it posed a problem: What to do with the non-LP singles? Past Masters, Volume 1 compiles 18 of those singles, including some of their best-known tracks, running from "Love Me Do," "She Love You," "I Want to Hold Your Hand," and "This Boy" to "I Feel Fine" and Paul's homage to Little Richard, "I'm Down."  Past Masters I Is Fab November 25, 2008
Past Masters I is an excellent collection of the Beatles songs I like that weren't on the original releases of their albums. Lennon's "Yes It Is" is one of many great songs to be heard.
A must-have for Beatles fans. November 4, 2008
A great collection of Beatle songs. Includes "Long Tall Sally", "She's a Woman", "Komm Gib Mir Deine Hand" (the German version of "I Want to Hold Your Hand"), and "Sie Liebt Dich" (the German version of "She Loves You"). If you want every Beatle song and/or album, don't overlook this one and the follow-up, Past Masters Volume 2.
Past Masters gets you Beatles singles not on albums October 13, 2008
I have all the Beatles CDs. But I couldn't find Rain. It is on Past Masters Vol 2 so I got Vol 1, too. The information included was good. This two CD set gets you the singles!

Great collection of songs that I'm so glad have place to call home on a "real" Beatles album. For those of you who don't know what the Past Master's series are, they are all the songs that The Beatles produced that were only released on singles, not on an album. And this is of course referring to the albums released in the UK (the only ones that really matter). So many great songs. I love it and i was super excited i didn't have to get every single lame American version albums to get own every Beatles song recorded.
