I recently restored speakers I built built during the early 80's based on my patent [...]; the woofers were replaced using modern large excursion sub-woofers. In addition to the usual stereo image testing my goal was to test my subwoofer performance to thundering cathedral organ pipes. One of the several CDs purchased from Amazon was "Glorious Pipes: Organ Music Through the Ages" ; I was not disappointed especially from the material contained on CD #2 tracks 1, 3, 8 and 9. Over all I am pleased with both disks.
Glorious Pipes October 13, 2008
This album is a must have if you're into the pipe organ at all. It's very comprehensive, covering the premier organ compositions from the early Baroque until close to the present day. The best part? It's a Deutsche Grammophon recording. These are the best classical recordings I've heard, by far. You can't beat any recording from that label.

Absolutely splendid recordings. You'll love this CD! Don't download the MP3s since you won't get some of the best stuff on the CD.

The recording of organ music is hard enough, but this double cd makes it sound like you are in the church or hall.

I bought this cd for my 15 year old son who is into pipe organ and organ music. He loves it and can't say enough about it.
