5 out of 5 stars Thank You   November 3, 2006

It's truly amazing how true talent can lie dormant or not be exposed to a more appreciative fan base. If there was no amazon I probably wouldn't have found this album.

I am from the Caribbean and trust me, there are very few of us here that know of Robin Thicke. A musical genius, his "blue eyed soul" is some of the best music I've heard in years.

4 out of 5 stars I Like 'Em Thicke!   June 17, 2003

As an avid fan of ecclectic musicians, I enjoy finding it very difficult to place new artists in certain genres. I wish this were the case with Robin, but he is clearly blue-eyed soul.
Unlike my girl Nikka Costa, who always replies with a "WTF is Neo-Soul?" when questioned about her music, Thicke fully embraces that which diversifies him, creating an album that blends the 70's sex appeal of KC and The Sunshine Band (When I Get You Alone) with the timeless soulful ease of Stevie Wonder (Stupid Things).
The album stubles with cliched attempts, like the Latin laced "Vengas Conmigo" and "Flex", that I hope won't be released as singles but are good nonetheless. His lyrics are catchy, and backed by that ill production, "A Beautiful World" is a must have.

4 out of 5 stars Not a gimmick   May 9, 2003

Thicke is not a gimmick. Hopefully, he won't be a flash in the pan, either. Talk about blue-eyed soul! His (or the songwriter's) use of Beethoven's Fifth was amazing and so creative. Mistermaxx is the only one so far who gave Thicke a bad review. But he gives pretty much everything a bad review, so don't pay too much attention. This album is funky, sensual, and worth trying out at the very least.

5 out of 5 stars I Love It!!!   April 23, 2003

Robin Thicke's "When I Get You Alone" is one of those songs that makes you wonder why you don't hear it enough. I owned this CD and had loved the song long before I even knew who his father is. Besides, I don't think his father really has any real bearing on his music career because I'm sure Robin would have been out a long time ago if that's all it took.

I loved Robin Thicke's use of the disco version Beethoven's Fifth in this song. The lyrics are catchy, the music is funky, and you can't help but get up and dance when it comes on!

I think this is an excellent debut from somone who probably won't get a lot of mainstream attention, but will be remembered nonetheless for his incredible musical talents!

can't believe this Song got so much hype? wow taking the Disco Version of "A Fifth of Beethoven" which Walter Murphy used for "Saturday Night Fever" Soundtrack still Sounds like a crazy Gimmick then as now.this Cat has no Feeling in His Singing either but having the Right Last Name goes a long way.
