Album Description This Atlanta singer/songwriter has been hailed by critics as the Bill Withers of a new generation. On his debut, Tony creates soulful urban tunes inspired by the human experience. His immaculate blend of blues, R&B, and hip-hop creates a distinct sound that breaks open a new dimension in soul music. Pleasures, desires, and life struggles are passionately conveyed through his husky yet intimate vocal delivery, descriptive lyrics, heartfelt melodies, and out of the box acoustic rhythms.

Enjoyable August 30, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had not heard Anthony's music until I saw him in concert just last week. I was truly mesmirized by this man's music. I immediately went out and purchased both his CD's the next day. I am now and will always be a fan.
Anthony David August 29, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Anthony David is such a dynamic singer. The rythms and lyrics are so soulful. To say that he is just an alright singer at best is nuts. I and my friends are pretty sad that he will not be at a concert this weekend because he is in Africa, and they want him to stay and play throughout the month of September. Yet, I do understand how they feel in Africa. I am such a fan.
Good Music..... With Iintelligent Mature Song Writing July 2, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
One or two song are a bit off but the album as a whole is very good and true to life...with songs like Cheatin man, no one I know of has a song like that. Other good tracks are Yes...Spittin'Game...Hartstrings....50/50 love...Cold Turkey and Part of My Life, are all good songs. (This is the kind of maturity in song writing that you should get from people like R. Kelly at his age and 15 year music career.) If you like this album check out...Raul Midon's State Of Mind...A little different but very good.
Truer words never sung before... March 28, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you are trying to decide between this and the new Anthony David, I'd go with 3 Chords and Da TRUTH!!!! This one is a more balanced and fresher representation of Mr. David. Track 2-->"Heartstrings", "Yes", "Believe Me" and "Cheatin' Man" are samples of the GREAT LYRICAL MATURITY on this album. I just listened to The Red Clay Chronicles and some of the same songs from 3 Chords get re-done (not necessarily better). Red Clay also does one too many shout out songs to Atlanta and I'm ATL to the bone--born, raised, and to the grave. On 3 Chords, the ATL/GA pride is just enough to make a person nostalgic but not too much where I'd have get out mapquest if I wasn't from "The A." If you're on a budget and want some straight up soul food for ya ears, THREE CHORDS & THE TRUTH won't run up ya' presha or mess with ya' suga as the old folks say...
Solid Debut! February 8, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I had the pleasure of seeing Anthony David open for India.Arie when she came here last month. And even though I had heard of the name, I hadn't heard his music. So I was truly interested in what this guy had to offer. Well, little did I know that I'd be captivated from the very first song. Song after song, I found myself enjoying every note that he played on his 6-string guitar and every lyric that he spoke. As he sat on the stool under the spotlight, I couldn't help but wonder why I had never heard his music before. Well, I actually had heard his work...unbeknownst to me. He worked on India.Arie's first album and co-wrote her latest single "There's Hope." So I really had to get my hands on his two cds. Although he has a new album called The Red Clay Chronicles, I found myself drawn to his more acoustic debut album 3 Chords & The Truth.
Although not the strongest singer out there, his creativity and songwriting make up for his limited singing range. "Yes" starts off the album, instantly submerging you into his emotional magnificence. His heartfelt lyrics continue on "Heartstrings," again drawing the listener into a familiar story about wondering if somebody is worth the risk of loving wholeheartedly. The live performance of "Spittin' Game" is a brazen song about what else...spitting game! The standout track "Cold Turkey" had everybody entertained at the concert because of the wickedly funny yet sometimes factual occurrence of not being able to stop loving someone at the drop of a dime. "50/50 Love" is a decent reggae-tinged ditty, while "GA Peach" talks about the lovely ladies of Anthony David's home state. "Believe Me" is a cool, self-assured melody on trusting someone to love you the right way.
"Ain't Enough For Me" discusses the feeling of wanting to spend more time with that special someone, while "Cheatin' Man" speaks on making the mistake of stepping out on your woman even though you know it's the wrong thing to do. "Skyline" is a simple, subdued tale about dedicating yourself to another person. "Part Of My Life" is his renditon of the India.Arie song he co-wrote for her first album Acoustic Soul. He closes the album with the hilarious "Krooked Kop" and the the tranquil "The Water/The Fire." Do yourself a favor and pick up 3 Chords & The Truth. And if you like what you hear, there's always more with The Red Clay Chronicles.[....]
