Savannah, Georgia native Anthony David has spent his whole life writing songs with his riveting story telling, passionate guitar playing and stirring voice featured on his major label debut Acey Duecy and introduce the world to Soulbird Music, a venture between Universal Republic Records and the multi-Grammyr winning artist India.Arie. David wrote the song 'A Part Of My Life' for Arie's seven timed Grammyr nominated album Acoustic Soul and then toured with her in support of that record. Shortly thereafter he left to pursue his solo career. He released two independent albums, Three Chords & The Truth (which he recorded for $6000) and Red Clay Chronicles (which he recorded for $15,000). Both albums received high critical acclaim, and earned David thousands of fans world-wide. It is a combination of songs from those two albums that make up Acey Duecy.

 I thought that this was grown folks music! Blah. December 2, 2008
Let me start by saying that Anthony David has a magnificent voice but I feel that most of his talent was wasted here.With this largely hiphop sometimes ghetto material.
The songs Words and Stop playin are the songs that I like on here apart from them I am hard pressed due to the thuggish nature of some of his lyrics. For example the song Smoke one could have been great because it has an awesome beat and tempo and He wastes this track describing hooking up with a women he has not seen in a while, so he goes on to say smoke one with your boy , drink one and lets do something bad to get reaqqainted instead of making this into a romantic ballad he chose to go really "hood". Which is not always wrong but I felt that it was not appropriate here. Also many of his lyrics are rudimentary and way too basic. When I heard the range of the song Words with India Irie. I rushed out and bought this CD. Sadly to say that most of the rest of the CD apart from Words is dissappointing and it kind of puts you in the mind of Lyfe Jenning's 2nd CD The Phoenix, which I was totally not feeling either.
Sorry Anthony but you took something that could have been great and made it blah. Many mature R&B music listening fans will understand what I mean when you take a listen to most of the lyrics on here.

I'm so amazed. This cd is GREAT! It never ceases to amaze me how often the great artists go unrecognized and are only admired by a select few that search for great stuff. Anyway, this cd is SOOO great that I'm not even done listening to it and I've already rated it a 5 just based off the first 6 songs. This man can sang! His production is great. He's picked amazing women to duet with, including the ever-so talented India Arie. Just a wonderful collection of music. Great live sounding songs and studio tracks as well. What are my faves? Well so far, as I've stated I'm not done, I'm really feeling Lady, Spittin Game (love the live sound on this one), and Smoke One. May add more when I'm done though! If u like Anthony Hamilton, you NEED to get a load of this Anthony! Definitely on par, and perhaps even better!

Anthony has definitely found that neo soul niche and working with India Arie has been a great idea. Very steady and strong voice productions make this a must have.
