 Hard to find 45's on CD Volume 6 December 2, 2008
This was a great purchase for me. This album included at least 9 songs I did not have in my collection. All the songs are clear and are ORIGINAL recordings which are sometimes hard to find today. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys some rather obscure and hard to find songs such as "Nothing But A Heartache" by the Flirtations. The history of the artists /songs in the cover is great also.

Hard to Find 45s on CD, Volume 6: More 60's Classics has some very good old tune that used to make thee airwaves sizzle back in the day! These songs are presented here in incredibly good sound; and the artwork is very nicely done. This is certainly a must-have for fans of the "oldies but goodies!"
"Lightnin' Strikes" by Lou Christie starts the CD off with a huge hit; and this is a fine song by Lou Christie. He sings this so very well; his excellent diction helps his performance even further. The female backup chorus works wonders for this rock and roll tune and the melody is very catchy and pretty at once. Tommy Roe also kicks in his own contribution with his hit "Everybody;" "Everybody" showcases Tommy's fine voice--and I can't figure out why he didn't have more hits in his day! Tommy Roe could really sing. In addition, there's also Los Bravos doing their "Black Is Black;" I predict that you will recognize this tune even if you don't remember the title of this classic 1960s rock song. "Black Is Black" is easily a major highlight of this album; Los Bravos was a very talented group indeed!
Millie Small sings her tune called "My Boy Lollipop;" this song celebrates the joys of young love and the harmonica really works well for the musical arrangement. "My Boy Lollipop" is a peppy little tune that you won't forget anytime soon! The Reflections also do a great job on "(Just Like) Romeo & Juliet." "(Just Like) Romeo & Juliet" compares a modern day love affair to the story of Romeo and Juliet--and this tune has quite a fine beat to make it snazzy, too! The Dixiebelles also do a wonderful job on "(Down At) Papa Joe's;" this rock ballad has just enough of a Dixieland flavor to it to make this a very, very major highlight of this album. Great!
Johnny Crawford sings "Rumors" with panache, heart and soul; Johnny Crawford sang with the best of them; and "Rumors" allows Johnny to show off the operatic qualities of his voice. "Rumors" is a very pretty ballad. Dale & Grace also score a hit with their fantastic "I'm Leaving It Up To You;" "I'm Leaving It Up To You" has great electric guitar and a touch of country flavor to make this really stand out! The Left Banke also does great on "Walk Away Renee;" this song has wonderful keyboard work and the strings are absolutely wonderful, too. The Sandpipers do a sublime rendition of "Guantanamera;" and the CD ends strong with Chris Montez performing "The More I See You." "The More I See You" uses handclapping as a type of percussion and this is very creative.
Overall, Hard to Find 45s on CD, Volume 6: More 60's Classics is an excellent CD that oldies fans won't want to ignore. I highly recommend this album.

I have several of the Hard to Find 45s CDs and I like all of them. Some of these are really obscure, not everyone is a gem, but then the radio didn't play only top 10 hits, it played them all.
This is a collection of some of the great 60s sound that got lost between then and now. Most oldies radio stations don't even play them because they aren't top 20 but they are still great tunes from that era, still bringing back floods of memories. I want to circle the Big Boy stand or cruise into Jerry's for a Buddy Boy sandwich and malt on the way to the fall hop at the high school. What great music for a really great time of life, at least it was until I got drafted (sigh). Now I can enjoy them all over again thinking about the dances, movies and just cruisin' Friday and Saturday nights.... how I miss them.
The quality of the CD sound is pretty much just like it came out of your rear seat speaker in the 60s, not really great. A lot of this early music was created by garage bands with $100 microphones. It's just like you heard it back then. I don't see the problem with that, I wouldn't want it changed in any way. I wish I had that old '58 Chevy again. .

I have tried most record shop's in Brisbane, Qld, Australia,for a particular song,iknew i would have to buy a best of, or something of that ilk.But i found it on Amazon. Thank You. By the way the song is "Master Jack" by 4 jack' & a Jill.

In my seemingly never-ending search for Top 40 Pop/R&B/Country singles from 1940 to 1979, Bill Buster's Eric Records "Hard To Find" series ranks right up there with the best providers, in my humble opinion. And that includes Ace Records of London, Stardust of Canada and their "Treasured Tunes" and "Vintage Instrumentals" series, and even the overly-expensive Time-Life offerings.
Six pages of liner notes by Greg Adams fill you in on some interesting backgrounders to each selection and, on the reverse, is the Billboard chart performance for each. If I were to offer a suggestion for future releases it would be to add the original single label number, but that is a minor quibble.
This volume presents 21 hits from 1960 to 1969, 16 of which were Top 20, and if I had to list them in descending order of their difficulty to locate, it would be as follows: Tracks: 7, 12, 15, 17, 21, 9, 5, 8, 13, 14, 18, 19, 10, 11, 20, 1, and 16 - with the remaining five relatively easy to find.
In my case, it was the combination of seeing Johnny Nash's Hold Me Tight, Jo Ann Campbell's A Kookie Little Paradise, and Dickey Lee's Laurie (Strange Things Are Happening) all on the same disc. The hits of each of those artists are, as most serious collectors will attest, very difficult to find on CD.
If you have not sampled any from among this series, let me just say that each is a gem on its own. Highly recommended.
