5 out of 5 stars The end of an era   May 27, 2008

George Carlin was the voice of an era. In the early 1970's his comedy albums were at the top of the field blending sarcasm and satirical perspectives from the prior generation with the protest and politicism that was so much a part of the world of that time. Toledo Window Box was the last of his great albums and the strain for material is obvious as you listen to it. Having exhausted a great many themes with his prior three Albums, AM-FM, Class Clown and Occupation Fool, though still very good the album does show signs of creative fatigue. For those who enjoyed the first three albums, this is a continuation. For those who weren't alive or aware during the 1970's the material may seem a bit dated and confusing with references to Nixon and the like.

For a real fan this is of course a must. For those who would like a good laugh and want to know more about George Carlin the comedian, start with AM-FM or Class Clown and then progress... Still, this is well worth the price of admission...

I purchased the album in 1972 and listend to it over and over with fellow "munchers". Somewhere along the way it was misplaced, but I never forgot the real story about the Seven Dwarves and Old King Cole. If you graduated around 1973 and appreciated In Concert and Zilches you will love being taken back to the "good old days"!!

George Calin IS the best comedian around. I have this CD from when it first came out on vinel. I was very exicted when all his older stuff was finally coming out on CDs. This, along with all his other albums, is absolutley hilarious. I garuntee you will crack up, i still do even after hearing it a thousand times. This is a must have for anyone who likes to laugh.
