80's November 17, 2008 I loved the pre-9/11 George. This is an excellent example of his 'best' work.
I miss George Carlin July 21, 2008 When George Carlin passed away, I realized how much I always loved all his 'stuff' and wondered why I did't have any of it. This is the first one I just bought, and I will eventually buy everything. I laughed all the way to work listening to George and remembering.
Carlin with an edge April 13, 2004 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
Those expecting Hal Sleet, the Hippy Dippy Weatherman, may not recognize this version of Carlin, but it is satiric commentary at its finest - with a higher energy level. Carlin still excels in exploiting the ludicrousness of the mundane ("Love and Regards," one of his best bits ever) and just plain silliness ("Groups and Charities," "Sports"), but this is edgier. Carlin began tapping into his anger in the '80s and it produced even sharper observations ("Battered Plants", "Missing") in rants that make Dennis Miller look like an amateur. There is more rage in such works as "Back in Town," "Jammin' in New York" and "Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics," all of which I suggest, but to those who need a softer introduction into later Carlin should try this one first.

Classic Carlin...at his best! March 10, 2002 2 out of 4 found this review helpful
The George Carlin of today, unfortunately, is not like the Carlin of yesterday. He's so political and serious now, I hardly laugh anymore. But this CD is pure Carlin. Simple, yet hysterical. The way Carlin use to be.
