French Music July 14, 2008 Good product but I would have liked to have had the words to the songs in English and French.
Songs likely to entertain anybody March 28, 2008 5 out of 5 found this review helpful
The songs are sung by adult singers, not a children's choir, and the voices are beautiful. That's why I can use the CD for beginning learners of French in a college classroom. The songs are not just sung, one after the other. They are also a little bit acted out, with the interjection of voices and animal sounds that can be funny, instead of embarassing, to young adults. The CD is not just kids singing children's songs. It has more surprises, is more playful, a bit funny, so that kids and adults can enjoy it. Good selection of songs. Nothing primitive or basic about it.
Perfect for re-freshing forgotten French January 31, 2008 I used to be fluent in French 25 years ago and I'm now trying to bring it back from the depths of my brain in order to teach it to my pre-schooler. This CD is soooo pleasant to listen to that I can't get enough of it. We listen to it in the car and while I'm working at the computer. The songs are so cheerful and catchy that you just have to sing along! I highly recommend it!
Fantastic CD! January 7, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I bought this CD to introduce my daughter to French. I am a French teacher but I find it unnatural to speak to her in French (I am not a native speaker, and never spoke it at home) so I needed a way to bring French into our everyday interaction. Believe it or not, but I started playing this CD to my daughter when she was only two months old. For a month straight, all we did was sing and dance to this CD, and now that she is six months old, she still loves it. Her face lights up when the first song (her favorite) starts to play. When I am changing her diaper or getting her dressed and she is fussing at the changing table, all I have to do is press play on the CD player in her room and she starts to laugh and coo. I highly recommend this CD, but you must find the words to all the songs online if you don't know them or can't decipher them because there are no lyrics with this CD. Definitely learn the words and sing along because the songs are great and babies love to hear you sing!
Great French Songs for Kids January 2, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is an absolutely wonderful CD. One that I wish I'd had when my son was a baby. It has many of the traditional songs that I remember my french mother singing to me as a child. Don't worry about not recognizing the songs, even a first time listener will recognize "Old Mc Donald Had a Farm" and "Who's afraid of the big bad wolf" I particularly enjoyed this CD because even thoough these are children's songs, they are not sung in a way that caters to children (ex The Wiggles, The Chipmuncks etc...). My only complaint is that having the lyrics to refer to would've been nice as I don't remember all the words anymore and will have to listen a few times before I can get them down. I think this would be an enjoyable CD for people who understand French as well as for those who do not.
