Amazon.com After 28 million records sold worldwide, 5 Grammy nominations, and more #1 hits and weeks at #1 than any other artist in history at Adult Top 40 and Modern AC, Melisma/Atlantic recording group matchbox twenty is overdue for a Greatest Hits package. In order to create something truly special for their fans, the band returned to the studio to record their first new material in five years. Grammy-winning producer Steve Lillywhite oversaw the sessions in L.A., marking the band s first work with the renowned producer - whose credits include the likes of U2, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, Peter Gabriel, Talking Heads, and many others. Out of the session came six brand-new songs, turning the package into a new EP with a bonus of 11 matchbox twenty hits. The new tracks also mark their first recordings as a foursome. Match Box Twenty Exile is Excellent September 2, 2008 This CD is a double and includes all of their best songs. The purchase has been one of the best on Amazon so far. As much time as I spend in the car, this CD takes care of the entire commute and takes my mind off the traffic.
Where's the rest? July 12, 2008 What there is of this album is very good--but there is only a half album there--where is the rest? You do get a second CD that is sorta a greatest hits type thing--that sorta makes up for the short album--but I like to hear the new stuff too. Give us more. Al
A Fabulous Compliation CD for MB20 July 8, 2008 Being a faithful MB20 fan I have all of their CDs, but I did purchase Exile on Mainstream because of the 6 new songs plus the bonus DVD. Those things alone help make this one of my favorite compilation CDs that I own.
Of course in addition to those things the selection of their hits is fairly comprehensive. While if I were to make my own I'd of course add some "B-sides", I realize that GH CDs are for fans who may *only* like the singles. Either way, I was impressed they included songs like Back to Good and Bright Lights, in addition to all of their hit singles that I LOVE.
MB20 are genius. The lyrics, the voice, the instruments...I like that they do more than the average band; they shoot for more than status quo and they shake things up with each new CD by giving them their own voice and feel. If you like MB20 this is a CD to definitely add to your collection. And if you're a radio fan, I think this CD is certainly something you'll enjoy as well.
love it June 27, 2008 i recently purchased this cd and i loved it immediately...they just make great music and they are my favorite band now...
My favorite band now!!! June 24, 2008 After hearing from my mom that we had tickets to the show I immediately had to go out and buy this C.D., I thought we could learn the new songs and know them before the concert which was about a month before (March 17-St. Patty's Day). I listened to the new songs but soon just skipped them over and listened to #7-17. Although the new ones are a good attempt, nothing beat the original hits. After the concert, I hesitantly listened to the other 6 and found them to not be so bad. But I just reccomend you buy "Yourself or Someone Like You", and "Mad Season." But considering this has "most" of the best hits it is a really good buy. But if you do buy this C.D. it will make you want to go out and buy the originals.
