Amazon.com The cruel joke about contemporary Christian music for years has been that the recipe for successful CCM is to take a neutered form of some "alternative" rock from ten years ago, replace the word "baby" with "Jesus" and there you go--please do not forget to pick up your Dove award on your way out the door! At first, this seems to be the case with the David Crowder Band's new album, Remedy. "Can You Feel It," after all, sounds like tepid alt-y dance-pop with "edgy" distorted vocals, while "Everything Glorious" sounds like James Blount throwing off another adult contemporary snoozer while playing Pac Man. Thankfully, it's an eclectic release. Crowder's adept at mixing and matching genres, as anyone who's listened to his bluegrass-flavored A Collision--or its even rootsier follow-up, B Collision--will attest. Remedy sounds like a strange mix tape, but there is undeniable passion and skill at work here. Crowder, who's affiliated with the Praise & Worship movement, really knows how to write rousing anthems, even when making dubious production choices. --Mike McGonigal

An Amazing Experience August 9, 2008 First, I'd like to establish that I have listened to a broad range of music growing up as a classical violinist and pianist. I have listened to all types of "classical" music, world music, secular music through the ages, hip hop, independent artists. I know a lot about music and there is not a song on this album I don't love. At first I was surprised that this album didn't create a greater applause but understand why now. The vocal style is more 80's rock, not clear and pretty but emotional and good nonetheless. Next, the style in which this album was produced is similar to some energetic electronica sounds popular today that you'd find in secular bands such as Postal Service, Psapp, Bitter:Sweet. I love this about the album because SO much Christian music sounds the same. DCB, however, ventures outside of the stale standard rock band set that it seems these unadventurous Christian reviewers are missing. Last, this is an AMAZING worship album and I don't know how someone can say that it doesn't inspire praise.
By Track: Glory of It All - Great for worship. Talks about God's enduring love for us all. Can You Feel It? - Topic: Can you feel God's presence surrounding you? Everything Glorious - beautiful love song to God. ---Neverending... -- A fun worship song which points to how God's divine nature and our reason for life centers in His never-ending existence. Never Let Go - A passionate ballad about God's steadfastness O, For a Thousand Tongues to Sing - Lyrics sound like a hymn but a contemporary mix Rain Down - An impassioned cry to God set in a minor key We Won't Be Quiet - Another fun worship song overflowing with God's joy Remedy - A ballad about how God is the only Remedy for our troubled world Surely We Can Change - A wonderful ballad and my favorite track on this album (though it's hard to choose). Everyone I think can relate to feeling helpless in the face of the world's depravity. This beautiful song sings as a prayer.
If you are completely adverse to electronic orchestration I can understand disliking this album. It definitely has a lot of energy and should appeal to plenty teenage Christ followers. I have definitely had many wonderful moments drawing near to God with the music and would hate for you to miss out on account of reviewers with obsolete taste in music.
Remmedy? August 8, 2008 Remedy is no remedy for the poor styling, poor vocal quality, and lack of worship this band brings. The band sound brings a jittery delivery that does not engender worship.
In years to come we will look around and people will say, David Crowder - who? Some of the songs will endure, but only when redone in a truly worshipful style.
A Solid Praise Album August 4, 2008 'Remedy' is a well done CD with several good praise songs.
There are few standout tracks, but none are bad either. The best song is 'Everything Glorious'. Perhaps my expectations were too high after his album 'A Collision', but this one just does not seem that impressive to me. It is really pretty average.
For anyone who is not familiar with this group, I would definitely recommend their album, A Collision. It is a 'must have' for any Christian music fan.
The best DC*B album yet July 20, 2008 The songs of this project point to God as the Remedy this world desperately needs. The lyrics are honest and heartfelt petitions to the Creator in the face of hardship.
DC*B experienced tragedy in the death of their pastor and this recording is a testament to the healing power of the cross. Many of the tracks give a voice to feelings of sadness and frustration while simultaneosly reaffirming faith in the sovereign power of God. Only an artist with the heart of David could accomplish this. David Crowder is a modern day psalmist who brings his offering before the Lord just as David did in the book of Psalms. The result is a CD filled with songs that inspire worship.
As a worship leader I had the opportunity to use many of these songs in congregational worship. Aside from the corporate worship opportunities, I appreciate what this album has done in my private devotion times as well. I continue to learn what it means to trust Jesus, this CD has helped me more than I can express.
David Crowder represents the best in the modern worship movement. And this project is his best yet.
Inspiring CD May 23, 2008 This is my first David Crowder CD. I've been purchasing Christian Contemporary music for the past decade, but somehow had looked over the David Crowder CDs. This music has such depth of feeling in every word that is sung. Listening to this music is like taking a spiritual journey. You hear it, you feel it, and you can envision Christ in your life. I've just ordered two other CDs from Amazon because I was so impressed. Although, I have room for six CDs in my car, I find myself going back to this CD over and over again. Great CD!
