Editorial Reviews:

Album Description
FROM THE CREATORS AND PRODUCERS OF THE IRISH PHENOMENON CELTIC WOMAN COMES THE NEXT GENERATION IN IRISH BALLAD MUSIC, THE HIGH KINGS. Finbarr Clancy, Martin Furey, Brian Dunphy and Darren Holden - renowned vocalists and musicians - have come together to form the hottest Irish folk and ballad group to emerge since The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem electrified the worldwide folk revival of the 1960s. The musical producer is the highly acclaimed David Downes, who is the musical genius behind Celtic Woman and formerly the musical director of Riverdance. He brings intricate harmonies and driving rhythms to The High Kings songbook, giving them a freshness and sparkle that is infectious. A rousing TV special was filmed in Dublin and is available on DVD (The High Kings: Live in Dublin).

2 out of 5 stars A Glass of O'Douls...   August 28, 2008
Alas, the sticker on the label might have said it all. "From the producer of Celtic Women!" And this was to have enticed me? Apparently, it succeeded because buy it I did. The photos in and outside of the jacket might have told the tale: Something manufactured here. The scarves tied a little too neatly....do the gentleman play the instruments they are holding on the cover, or were they just given to them to look authentic? The music, unfortunately, resonates much the same way. Or should I say reverberates? Be wary of production qualities that turn up the echo. Way too "new agey" to hail from the land of O'Casey and Synge. Their voices technically perfect, but no testosterone. I ordered Guiness but got O'Douls. How do you say N'Synch in gaelic?

5 out of 5 stars absolutely wonderful   July 29, 2008
The High Kings opened for Celtic Woman where we saw them in Michigan. they were utterly amazing with beautiful voices, delightful harmonies, engaging presentation and a diverse set of songs. I loved their performance. As a tenor myself, I'd have to say these guys are the best.

Love this CD - great traditional Irish folk music sound with a modern twist. Wonderful voices and harmonies. Would recommend

5 out of 5 stars The High Kings   July 18, 2008
If you are old enough to remember The Kingston Trio the Kings are an Irish version with all the great harmony and humor. If you like this kind of music, the Kings are a must. Amazon was great with their instant delivery.

5 out of 5 stars A new favorite   July 16, 2008
This album has quickly become my favorite celtic selection. I love the harmonies and rhythms. Every song is filled with power and emotion, and I often find myself dancing and singing along--to the best of my meager abilities.
