Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com
An all-star cast has joined forces to produce a wonderful CD and, if that weren't exciting enough, a portion of the proceeds will help restore music education in the U.S. public school system through the VHI Save the Music Foundation. Clever new renditions of familiar Muppets and Sesame Street tunes abound, but Semisonic's Dan Wilson, ex-Del Fuego artist Dan Zanes, Toad the Wet Sprocket's Glen Phillips, and Bleu wrote songs for this album, and Tom Waits's lullaby "Bend Down the Branches," originally recorded for a short film, makes its debut on this CD. No offense, Kermit, but the frog's 1979-vintage "The Rainbow Connection" never sounded so sultry as Sarah McLachlan's version here. Another favorite is "The Hoppity Song," a rock & roll ode to Five for Fighting frontman John Ondrasik's son Johnny. Make no mistake--this isn't one of those CDs that is more for adults than kids--songs about hygiene, the alphabet, and crying ("It's All Right to Cry" originally from Marlo Thomas's Free to Be You and Me) are truly "for the kids." That said, adults will enjoy hearing their favorite artists switch gears in this gentle (mostly, not Bleu's energetic "Snow Day!"), upbeat compilation, which combines just the right blend of familiar sing-along songs and exciting new material. The booklet doubles as a foldout coloring book, with illustrations for each song. A fun and noble effort for a fun and noble cause. --Karin Snelson

3 out of 5 stars Better out there   July 31, 2008
While there are some good songs out there (like Cake's openning cut). The album fell a little flat for me and the kids barely notice the CD. I think we are all spoiled on Dan Zane CD's - they really grow on you.

5 out of 5 stars Deserves its five stars   June 19, 2008
This album deserves all the accolades it's received here. It's upbeat, amusing, entertaining, and not cloying. Love The Hoppity Song and La La La La Lemon best, but all tracks are good. Well, perhaps except the last one. Bend Down the Branches seems out of place and a bit pointless to me, but it's short. This CD is definitely good for the whole family.

5 out of 5 stars My daughter and I LOVE this CD!   December 29, 2007
The songs on this CD are infectious and fun. There is not one annoying song on here. I love Willie the King, Snow Day, and The Hoppity Song the most. IF you're an adult that cringes at the idea of a kids' CD, this is absolutely the one for you!

5 out of 5 stars A Family Fav   September 28, 2007
When this album comes on, our entire family sings and dances. Our youngest started singing "la la la lemon" before she started talking. We've recommended and given to many now-singing families! The entire album is fabulous!

5 out of 5 stars Great for Parents Too!   August 17, 2007
This album is FANTASTIC. Buy it. It's our 1.5 year old daughter's favorite. That may be because it's our favorite too. I've even gone out and purchased albums from the artists on this CD for myself. The songs by Bleu and Five for Fighting are particularly good. It's hard to find a kid's album that you as a parent can stand to listen to over and over again. I'd listen to this one even if she weren't around. If you as a parent are an alternative music fan, this CD is a must have.

By the way, pass on "For the Kids Too." It's super boring. Like most good movies, the sequel never lives up.
