Product Description Punk forefathers Joey Johnny Dee Dee Tommy Marky Richie and C-Jay Ramone outlasted almost every one of their legions of followers. For over twenty years they delivered their signature garage-flavored ear-shattering chainsaw level and pop-skewed sound through a string of now-classic loud-and-fast punk rock LPs and 2263 concerts together. This new two DVD set captures the essence of the legendary racket they made with over four hours of rare and previously unreleased live footage that s theclosest you can get to experiencing this blitzkrieg of a band. From their earliest performances at lower Manhattan s CBGBs tointernational festivals in front of hundreds of thousands of fans IT S ALIVE 1974 1996 is your VIP ticket to the Ramones. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002 the band may be gone but their sound and influence are indestructible.Format: DVD MOVIE Genre: MUSIC DVD/CONCERTS UPC: 603497048328

Essential. Period. September 25, 2008 Why are you reading this? If you are a Ramones fan -- or a rock n roll fan -- you should already have this in your shopping cart and be checking out by now. Stop reading the reviews and buy it, already.
Over four hours of the Ramones live = musical nirvana.
Yeah, the sound quality of the early tracks is poor, but not as bad as you might think. Plus, let's face it, they weren't that great in September 1974, so who cares?
My only problem is with the guy who edited the December 31, 1977 London show. What's up with that? It's not only out of sequence but it looks like someone just got a video editing machine and was playing around with it for the first time. Neverthless, the show totally rocks as does the rest of the DVD.
If you like the Ramones you either already have this DVD or will have it soon. No reason to wait. The price is right ($15.49? are you kiddin' me? That's a steal) and being able to watch the Ramones live whenever you want is too good to pass up.
Gabba gabba, baby.

the Ramones ripping through the years June 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you never got to see the Ramones this is a video for you, if you got to see the Ramones this is a video for you. This brilliant video takes from the very beginging to the end, and all the stops inbetween. It is a must for a Ramones fan. Having seen the Ramones many times throughout the years, this video has stuff I never saw before. I had to have this in my collection and wasn't disappointed.
LOTS OF CRAPPY FOOTAGE AND SOUND April 23, 2008 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
THE TITLE HERE SAYS IT ALL. I HAD TO SIT THROUGH LOTS OF GRAINY, FUZZY FOOTAGE AND WORSE - SONGS WHERE I COULDN'T EVEN HEAR JOEY'S VOCALS. YES THERE IS SOME DECENT FOOTAGE BUT OVERALL A LOT OF THE SAME STUFF/POOR QUALITY.
Great stuff, on two accounts! March 24, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I will make this quick and simple. I came home one day to see that mail carrier not done his/her job properly and upon finding me not at home for the delivery simply left my package in the hallway of my apartment, under my door. As I entered my lobby I found my package opened and empty. Canada Post ignored my inquiry but Amazon.com replied right away and sent me another one free of charge. Zip ahead a couple of weeks and the DVD set arrived. Once again left by the postal carrier outside my apartment door, but this time I came across it first instead of a thief. Doesn't say much for the delivery people at Canada post (after all the post office is just two blocks from my apartment, it's not a hardship for them to leave it there like they are supposed to for me to pick up). It does say a lot about amazon.com and how great they treat their customers.
Now to the DVD set itself. It's great. There is plenty of rare stuff on these discs, and it was so interesting that I managed to sit through the whole thing in one go. I highly recommend this DVD set. Just not for the thief who stole the first one delivered to my door!
