| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Less successful when it's sentimental (Waylon Jennings' "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys") than when it's wry (Willie Nelson's myth-puncturing "Me and Paul"), this cash-in compilation of previously released cuts was just in time to grab the first platinum record ever awarded a country album. It's not bad, but both Jennings' contemporaneous Dreaming My Dreams and Nelson's Red Headed Stranger are more nuanced tastes of the good-bad-but-not-evil-ol'-boy lifestyle. (Not to mention much of Tompall Glaser's own Outlaw compilation.) This 1996 CD reissue adds nine more tracks from the era as well as a new Jennings-and-Nelson version of Steve Earle's "Nowhere Road." --Rickey Wright

Outlaws CD August 30, 2008 The CD itself is in great condition. There was confusion about my having already purchased it, and shipment was therefore delayed. The seller quickly rectified this oversight and remained in constant communication until my receipt of the item.
The Outlaws August 13, 2008 This CD has wonderful country songs by the 4 outlaws - Waylon, Willie, Jessi, and Tompall. Too bad country doesn't still sound this good. This CD is real country. "My Heroes Have Always Been Cowboys", "T for Texas", "Put Another Log on the Fire" are my favorites.
Fine introduction to the outlaw movement August 6, 2008 Thanks for Waylon's effort and support, Willie could make a breakthrough. And Willie gave a helping hand when Waylon was in a mess. What a great friendship they made. Moreover, Jessi Colter and Tompall Glaser supported Waylon and Waylon let them ride on a bandwagon called "Outlaw". If it had not been for the album, Tompall could have never taken any spotlight. In a creative sense, I don't think this compilation carried weight much in the country music scene. But it is still necessary to look back what was the Outlaw phenomenon. Willie's RCA tunes are fabulous and Waylon's tunes show his determination turning into self-confidence. Those uplifting days were so glorious that we can hardly find such a magic in today's music.
Wanted! The Outlaws with Waylon and Willie December 7, 2007 Great CD. A must for the country music lover. No better compilation of Willie, Waylon, and Jessie Coulter among others.
Wanted: Indeed November 6, 2007 Excellent collection of off-main stream country music. Highly recommended. Includes additional cuts that were not on the LP.
