4 out of 5 stars For diehard Madonna fans   December 11, 2004

I have to admit I originally wasn't crazy about "Music". After the spectacular "Ray of Light", I thought "Music" was a bit weak. The songs were either a hit or miss with me. It took some time for the cd to grow on me. Considering Madonna's last studio album "American Life" (which was disasterous artistically and commercially), "Music" sounds brilliant. Mirwais was ok as a producer but I do think that he was vastly overrated. The only single I really liked off the album was the title track with its Daft Punk-like beats. I like "Don't Tell Me" but I thought as a single it was a pretty weak follow up to "Music". I never cared for "What It Feels Like For a Girl". The lyrics alone are pretty silly and an indication to the absurdity and pretentiousness found on "American Life". Joni Mitchell Madonna is not in the songwriting department and it really shows in her lyrics on "Music". Nevertheless, I absolutely loved the dance tracks "Imprsesive Instant", "Runaway Lover" and the gorgeous ballads "Paradise (Not For Me)", and "Gone". I bought the import version later on which includes bonus remixes of the singles off "Music" and the very tame music video "What It Feels Like For a Girl" (I will never understand how MTV decided to ban this POS for a music video). The remixes are killer, especially the Paul Oakenfold remix of "What It Feels Like For a Girl" and Deep Dish's remixes of "Music". Despite the fact that this album was far from perfect, I still thought this import version of "Music" is worth owning.

When I got this it said European edition on it so I don't know if this was marketed everywhere or not. Any way I absolutely love this album it is my favorite of hers yet!!!! I really enjoyed the bonus disc that has video on it and the remixes are great too. Go buy it you will not be unhappy. ...

OK, this is listed as the Hong Kong release, but I got the Australian release so who knows what you're gonna get. Either way, the track listing is the same. Everyone knows all about the regular Music album so I'm just going to review Disc 2 (the remix disc). OK,they chose to include the Deep Dish and HQ2 remixes of "Music". Those were good choices, as I think those were 2 of the best among the Tracy Young and Groove Armada ones. Either of those 4 were good choices. "Don't Tell Me" was included as the Timo Maas and Tracy Young mixes. Again, awesome choices! The vission mix would have worked too. So far so good. Now, "What It Feels Like For A Girl"..they included the Paul Oakenfold Perfecto mix, but I think Paul's Saturday Night mix would have been a better choice because 1)It has more vocals than the perfecto mix and 2)it remains unreleased as promo-only. The other "WIFLFAG" version they include is the spanish version. This was an ok choice, but I think the Tracy Young or Vission Velvet Masta mix would have been a better choice. All in all, 6 audio tracks for you to enjoy. the final thing on this disc is the video portion. It includes the full uncensored video of "What It Feels Like" along with a mini 3-image photo gallery and cute interactive menu with the perfecto mix playing in the background. Overall grade: A-

5 out of 5 stars Must have for the Collector!   October 11, 2001

When this 2-CD set came out here in Spain..I RAN and bought it. Ok, if you already have Music..then you are not missing anything..it does not have "American Pie" which was released on the European versions..or "Cyberaga" which is released with "Pie" on the Japanese and Austrailian versions. But, some of the remixes are not included on certain single releases in certain countries...so..if nothing own it for the neat video of "What It Feels Like"..which I heard was banned from Mtv in the US and the cool version of "What it Feels Like" in Espanol!
