| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Windham Hill initially gained a sterling reputation through exquisitely recorded and played instrumental guitar albums. The label now commemorates 25 years of recording by picking the cream of its crop. A great harvest it is, too! Founder Will Ackerman rerecords the early "The Impeding Death of the Virgin Spirit." Then there's Alex De Grassi's gentle pyrotechnics and Doyle Dykes's jazzy inflections. Together, they've truly expanded the boundaries of acoustic-guitar playing--an effort that may have reached its zenith with the late Michael Hedges. His "Aerial Boundaries" remains a tour de force, while his live duet with bassist Michael Manring--"Rikki's Shuffle"--shows the synergy between two great musicians. --Chris Nickson

Always Windham Hill June 10, 2010 S. Honsaker (Grove City, PA) Even though it has duplicate recordings from other cd's, I never seem to get tired of the classics. A few surprises in this one I haven't heard before.
Windham Hill 25 Years of Guitar March 25, 2009 Antony Williams (California) Listenable - but it doesn't compare to the Windham Hill trio of Taylor Guitars 'Sounds of Wood & Steel' volumes 1-3
Well Produced February 12, 2009 G. Botter (Mesa, AZ) This is a GREAT CD that has great tracks and well produced. We enjoy it with our Bose systems throughout our home. Bose in known to sound clean and natual, and this CD demonstrates the natural tones of an acoustical guitar.
For fun we insert this CD into the music system within our SUNDANCE Maxuss Spa and star gaze. It is a great CD to set the tone for a relaxing spa experience. Awesome, do not hesitate to purchase it.

Windham Hill is always great and this cd is right in that tradition
Beautiful, calming, romantic... January 9, 2007 Bethy (Portland,ME) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I have never purchased a Windham Hill CD that I have not enjoyed and this one may be the best of them all. It is beautiful and, at times, hauntingly so. I took a deep breath at the first note of the first song and I don't remember breathing after that. I highly reccommend this CD for anyone who loves acoustic guitar or for someone who just needs a moment to relax.
