Ricardo Arjona could have gone the standard route with Quien Dijo Ayer, and it still would have been a solid hits collection. But the Guatemalan singer and songwriter has rarely been about obvious pop choices. Quien Dijo Ayer is no different. Arjona has made the double-disc collection a sweet look back that still keeps firm footing in the present and in the future. To be sure, he includes the original versions of some of his biggest hits ("Mujeres," "Senora de Las Cuatro Decadas"). But Arjona recasts his trademark tunes with new arrangements, newly recorded vocals and guest stars, resulting in an exciting new project. "Te Conozco" finds a new sense of poignancy and "Historia de Taxi" is reborn as a shimmering salsa collaboration with Marc Anthony. Arjona also enlists Marta Sanchez, Eros Ramazzotti, and Sandro for fresh spins on old friends. The disc includes a trio of new tunes, including the terrific "Quien," that fit perfectly alongside the hits. Arjona's own voice, always appealingly emotive, adds extra layers of depth to every thoughtful lyric. --Joey Guerra

 Not happy at all October 7, 2008
Even though I received the item in a reasonable amount of time, it was supposed to be a two-disc item. Well, the item was listed as "new" and it was packaged as new, but it contained the same CD twice. In other words, instead of having Disc1 and Disc2, the package contained two Disc1. I had to return it to say the least.

If you like poetry and you like music, you gotta get "Quien Dijo Ayer", it has some of the clasics song of the best singer ever, Arjona. This album "is not a compilation of songs but it compiles, is not a disc of success but but includes the most important ones. Has 3 new themes and also some of the songs are singed with some other artists, I would recommend this disc

Was at the library earlier today. Quien dijo Ayer caught my eye, there in the World/Folk section. I passed it by... but came back to it. Something about it... Gorgeous case design...
Slipped CD-1 into my car CD player and... wow... Chance World/Folk picks from the library usually get about 5 minutes play and returned the next day. I'm on CD-2 now... Very classy... Will be buying this CD. Soon.
In the meantime I've got the library checkout CD for 3 weeks... Oh yeah...
