Album Description Since shooting to stardom on the second season of American Idol, Clay Aiken, the Raleigh, NC, native with the powerhouse voice has become a international pop phenomenon who has sold six million albums. In addition, Aiken has launched eight live tours, made the New York Times best-seller list, and won several American Music and Billboard Music Awards. In January 2008, Aiken made his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning musical Monty Python's Spamalot. When Clay began the search for songs to record for Aiken's first album of original material since his 2003 chart-topping debut Measure of A Man, he fell in love with a song written by OneRepublic front man Ryan "Alias" Tedder called "On My Way Here." The message of the lyrics -- how the lessons we learn while growing up shape us into who we become as adults -- struck such a deep chord with Aiken that it wound up inspiring the theme (and title) of his new collection. To musically represent the album's lyrical theme, Aiken and Foster enlisted Grammy-Award winning British songwriter and producer Kipper, who has worked with Sting, Chris Botti, and Julia Fordham.

Best Yet!! May 12, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have enjoyed all of Clay's albums, and this one holds a very special place in my heart already. From the choice of music styles, to the lyrics, to the different qualities his voice conveys, there is something here for everyone. There isn't a song on this CD that I don't love, but my personal favorites are The Real Me, and Lover All Alone. A voice just don't get any better than this! Sing on Clay!!

I never owned a CD of Clay's before until now. When I heard snippets of this album I just knew I had to buy it. I'm now a fan and have gone and bought his other album.
I can't get enough of this CD. There's so much variety. His voice is just awesome.
Clay's Best CD so Far May 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is Clay's best CD so far. It is not as overproduced as the others. We can hear his voice more clearly, and a beautiful voice it is. The songs are interesting. I am glad he got a new producer. My friend to whom I gave this CD for her birthday said she played it all day long. Now that Clay has been on Broadway, I hope he will make a CD like Ron Raines of Show Tunes and include the song, TODAY. Clay is my favorite singer and he hasn't disppointed me yet. Everyone should buy this.
A CD for music lovers May 11, 2008 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
What a terrific CD. If you're already a fan, there are layers to each song that will touch your heart. But this CD isn't just for Clay's fans. I urge anybody who loves a great voice and songs with depth and meaning to give this one a chance. You will be blown away! The opening/title track, On My Way Here is a great song, written by Ryan Tedder and intepreted to perfection by Clay. Tracks like Ashes and Falling and Everything I Don't Need will have you bopping along before you can help yourself. You might just find yourself saying 'that's Clay Aiken'? And then he will reach into your chest and squeeze your heart with songs like The Real Me and As Long As We're Here. And you'll be saying oh yeah, that's Clay Aiken - and this guy can sing! But the real gem is the final song on the CD. Clay's lyric and David Foster's music combine to produce a true vocal masterpiece.
A Voice For The Ages May 11, 2008 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I just love Clay!! He captured my heart with his unique personality, underdog appeal, and intriguing vocal interpretations on American Idol. His voice satisfies my musical taste, fills up my senses, and hits the spot like nothing else can. His live concert performances are a joy to behold. I appreciate each of his albums for what they are and what they represent along his musical journey. "On My Way Here" is an awesome album filled with many surprises and interesting layers that continually reveal themselves with every listen. I love the creative album concept where every song revolves around a central theme. The unexpected lyrical twists in "Ashes", Where I Draw The Line", and "Everything I Don't Need" sneaks up behind me and catches me off guard every time. The tender poignancy of "The Real Me" and "Lover All Alone" always melts my heart. My very favorite song at this particular moment is "Something About Us". It's strategically placed between two fast paced songs to provide a refreshing oasis and a soothing moment for reflection. Clay sings it like a classic romantic love song that could come from the "Play It Again, Sam" scene in the movie Casablanca. When this song plays, I'm always taken away for a Calgon moment to relax and breathe in a song reminiscent of "As Time Goes By" only to start "falling, falling from the world I used to know" on the next song. Pulling from his experiences as a UNICEF ambassador, an autism rights activist, his life in the spotlight, and his coming of age, Clay sings about universal messages of faith, temptations, hope, loneliness, love, and social consciousness. This album is timelessly appealing with its personally relevant topics sung by a voice for the ages. I can visualize different songs being used to musically enhance the flashback scenes in the timeline of a person's life featured on episodes of two of my favorite television shows, "Cold Case" and "Ghost Whisperer". I just love Clay!!
