Originally from Vancouver B.C. and signed by Chad Kroeger of Nickelback to his 604 Records label (where the band is still signed in Canada), Theory is following up a very successful sophomore album cycle (GASOLINE) that included the huge radio hits "Santa Monica," "No Surprise" and "Hello Lonely." Theory are road dogs and expect to be on the road for 2 years straight to support their new album SCARS & SOUVENIRS. The balanced 13-track effort is the polished and passionate testament to seven years of hard work, heavy touring and diligent attention to its craft. From the swirling grinds of the first single "So Happy" to the soaring melodicism of "Not Meant to Be" and "By The Way," Scars & Souvenirs is a broad-reaching endeavor that puts singer/guitarist Tyler Connolly, guitarist Dave Brenner and bassist Dean Back high in the rock pantheon, achieving creative growth without sacrificing the hard-hitting power that got them here in the first place.

"It's the Scars & Souvenirs of your life," Connolly explains. "The songwriting on the record is really about someone's past or and present, their relationships and how they shape everything. It's more metaphorical than physical scars and trophies. We're just a hard-working band, man. We want to be out there for a couple of years and play these songs to everybody we possibly can." Tyler also contributed guitar and appeared in the video for Chad Kroeger's #1 smash hit "Hero," the theme song to the massive Spider-Man movie.

5 out of 5 stars fun rockin' album   October 9, 2008
I listened to Bad Girlfriend while getting a tattoo this summer and thought it was a fun song and wanted to hear more Theory so I bought this album. It's fun summer music and beyond. Not heavy death metal but a good outgrowth of 80's metal for those of us that were there. The lyrics are kind of all over the place...half the album is about love lost and the other about love found and that's pretty annoying but the tempo stays jammin' and you'll really enjoy it. I liked this album much better than their previous ones.

2 out of 5 stars It's saddens me to say this   September 26, 2008

But this album blows. I've been a huge TOAD fan since they came out, but this album just sucks. None of the songs except "So Happy" come close to their sound that I've come to expect from them after their last 2 albums. I was extremely disappointed, and I'm glad I got some of these songs for free.

1 out of 5 stars Holy Sh@t! What a blatant ripoff!   September 17, 2008

I dare anyone to listen to TOAD's "Bad Girlfriend" and The Cult's "Fire Woman" and tell me that's not a rip-off. I hope The Cult takes TOAD to the cleaners.

5 out of 5 stars Ecellent . . . Period!   August 20, 2008
This is just an excellent piece of work . . . and it's FUN! The creativity that is depicted here can only be described as, although I imagine pain stakingly labor intensive to make, this is one FUN album.

Energetic, creative and talent driven, you might want to pick this one up!

4 out of 5 stars Quite Pleased   August 13, 2008
I didn't know what to expect from them since " So Happy" was their 1st single, but once I bought the cd I was quite pleased with this cd.They have some very good catchy songs.I wouldn't say its their best cd,but its pretty close. My only problem is there were quite alot of slow songs, but they usually do alot of slow songs.Overall good rock cd
