| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Simon & Garfunkel have two 3-CD box sets collecting their entire career output, one with out-takes and live recordings, but the duo who were among the bestselling acts of the 1960s only recorded five studio albums throughout the entire 1960s! Their studio perfectionism is never better served than here. This greatest hits is simple and to the point, a perfect collection for anyone looking to get the basic idea (and hits) without committing to a more serious relationship. The harmonies, Paul Simon's masterful songwriting, Garfunkel's soaring choirboy voice, are all here. --Rob O'Connor

One of the biggest consumer rip-offs ever October 14, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all let me say I LOVE SIMON AND GARFUNKEL and their music is wonderful. But what we have here is somebody's mistaken idea that a greatest hits album should for some reason not include greatest hits! That's what I thought when the album was first released on vinyl, and here we are still dealing with this rip-off almost four decades later. And I do mean RIP OFF because nowhere on the jacket does it say that several of the tracks are alternate live recordings and that the applause at the end of those tracks absolutely ruins the beginnings of the real hits that are included. Hearing Bridge Over Troubled Water on this album makes me cringe!!!! Buyer beware! This is not what you're looking for. You owe it to yourself to opt for Sony's Best Of collection at any price. This is a disgrace to anyone who appreciates truly classic songs.
Careful - Tracks 4 & 8 are Live and Track 8 bleeds into Track 9! September 13, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you want the songs you remember, avoid this CD in favor of the "Definitive Simon & Garfunkel" Sony TVK 24003 available at http://www.amazon.com/Definitive-Simon-Garfunkel/dp/B0000566K2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=music&qid=1221346327&sr=1-1
These Tracks are problematic: 4. 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy) - Live version 8. Homeward Bound - Live version 9. Bridge Over Troubled Water - Original ruined by applause bleed-in from end of previous track!
In addition, this CD is missing these songs that are worthwhile: Seven O'Clock News/Silent Night A Hazy Shade Of Winter
There are a couple of other songs on the Definitive that are just okay. Neither album contains "Keeping the Customer Satisfied," one of my personal favorites.
I recommend "The Definitive" album over this one if you want a complilation on one CD.

Really really greatest hits! September 9, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
We bought this album last century and it is still in a big box of 60's and 70's vinyl LP's somewhere in the house. Having just travelled the length of the New Jersey Turnpike I had to have this as a souvenir. I had forgotten just how brilliant Simon and Garfunkel were-and are! This is a classic compilation, which I play several times a day. My favourite of all time is "America", or is it "Cecelia"? "Or Bridge over Troubled Water"? Just magic music.
Could've Been a Nice Little Collection August 4, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
At 14 tracks and just over 44 minutes, this CD is a little short for an S&G compilation. Nevertheless, it could've been a cute little collection, encompassing, as the title suggests, their greatest commercial hits. It falls short of even this aspiration, however, as the familiar studio versions of several songs (including 'For Emily, Whenever I May Find Her,' 'The 59th Street Bridge Song (Feelin' Groovy)' and 'Homeward Bound') are eschewed in favor of live versions. This would be fine if this information were indicated on the track listing, but it's not, and as such it is misleading and (in the case of 'Homeward Bound', for which I was growing nostalgic and was eager to hear in its original form) disappointing. There are better collections out there at reasonable prices, including 'The Best of Simon & Garfunkel' and the 2 disc 'The Essential Simon & Garfunkel'. I'm returning this one and copping one of those. Peace!
My dream come true March 19, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had a LP for decades but I haven?t got a gramophone. Now I have a CD and I'm grateful for your service. Music is great, I adore Simon and Garfunkel. Bring back memories!
