Great for every generation August 14, 2008 I'm 21 years old and I fell in love with Jim Croce's music instantly. I had heard 'Operator' on the radio and decided to look for more of his music and I'm VERY glad that I did. His lyrics are insightful, yet playful and realistic yet hopeful. This man's music is beautiful.
great collection December 28, 2007 This is a great collection of songs from a unique singer. I heard a Jim Croce record when I was a kid, after he had already passed away, and HE is what turned me on to music. After all these years, Jim Croce is still one of my favorite artists. There's something special about him, and these songs just might show why. I don't listen to Jim as often as I used to, because I've played these songs a million times, I play them on the piano, I sing them in the car. I can't help but wonder what he would have accomplished by now had tragedy not struck. The closest I can find to him now is Robert Earl Keen, not the same but it's something.
A nice collection April 12, 2007 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
30 some years ago I owned all of Jim Croce's albums. The albums are long gone and I wanted to add as much of his catalog to my cd collection as I could. I considered his longstanding Greatest Hits collection but stumbled across this 50th Anniversary CD. I ordered and received the 50th Anniversary cd and am extremely pleased. Not only is this cd a broad collection of his recordings but also contains previously unreleased tracks. It's great to listen to and I plan to purchase another copy for my older brother who is also an old time Croce fan. Jim's been gone over 3 decades now but his music is still as fresh as ever. It's too bad he left us so young.

I've been a big fan of Jim Croce ever since I first heard him sing. This collection the 50th Anniversary collection is the best collection on Jim Croce there is. if you are a Jim Croce fan then this is the collection i would buy. If you are new to this artist then this is the collection I would buy. It shows the different styles of this artist.
The Late, Great Jim Croce: The Reason I Learnt Acoustic Guitar! September 18, 2005 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
Jim Croce has and will always hold a very special place in my heart. He together with Dan Fogelberg and James Taylor made me want to pick up the folk guitar and endure the countless, painful, finger-bleeding nights just to learn how to play their songs. I've finally managed to commit "Photographs and Memories" to memory but I've since forgotten "These Dreams" but oh well, perhaps I'll come back to it some day.
Jim's playing was just unbelievable and his tone and sound is just brilliant. His is truly a case of what if as his undoubted playing and songwriting talent was there for all to see and he would have been an all-time great and a household name had he lived just 5 years longer.
About this cd though, this is the best compilation that you can get out there. The sound has been brilliantly remastered and so the sound quality is brilliant. Also, the liner notes were very lovingly written by Ingrid, his wife. If you are looking for a very, very good compilation of JC's life work, this is it. Very highly recommended!
