Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com essential recording
Despite denied claims that it's about marijuana, "Puff the Magic Dragon" now ranks as one of the finest children's songs in musical history. It's sung around campfires and in nursery schools to this very day (while still occasionally taking a tug at adults' heartstrings as well). So, it only made sense when Peter, Paul & Mary released this "kiddies" LP in 1969, beginning a trend they've returned to throughout their career. Mary Travers had indeed recently become a "mommy," and the trio celebrate here not only with a new version of their classic tune and the traditional "Mockingbird," but clever children's songs from the likes of Tom Paxton, Gilbert & Sullivan, and Shel Silverstein. --Bill Holdship

5 out of 5 stars Peter, Paul and Mommy   October 28, 2008
Our children grew up listening to the close harmonies of Peter, Paul and Mary. This album has our favorites: The Marvelous Toy, and Puff (The Magic Dragon) My husband recently died and our children asked for The Marvelous Toy at his funeral; fortunately we have an old songbook, and my husband's guitar, so our nephew and his friend were able to sing this song for our kids. I realized, watching my son's tears, that the songs of Peter, Paul and Mary have worked their magic for us.

5 out of 5 stars Peter, Paul and Mommy   July 24, 2008
During a recent visit, my three year-old granddaughter asked me what my record player was. I took her to my collection of 331/3 LPs and selected Peter, Paul and Mommy - the 1969 vinyl edition. "Oh,Grannie," she said, "a big DVD!" She loved "Momma's Taking Me to The Zoo Tomorrow" and "Puff the Magic Dragon." I had forgotten all the great songs that were on this album.,,,hadn't played it for years. We really enjoyed it together. So I purchased this CD just for her...she lives in the UK...and I'm always looking for good ways to keep in touch.

4 out of 5 stars Wonderful   July 17, 2008
I bought for my daughter because of The Toy. She loved that song as a child and wanted it for her sons. They play it on all their road trips.

5 out of 5 stars Me Too!   April 2, 2008
I also grew up with this (and every other PP&M album) on vinyl. Now my daughter loves this album. Even if you don't have a PP&M history, this is one of the greatest kid's albums ever. It has the added bonus of being easy for adults to listen to. We don't get tired of it. What a wonderful set of songs. "Peter, Paul & Mommy, Too" is not nearly a good.

My niece and nephew had the LP when they were young. Both were excited that I was able to find it for their children. "The Marvelous Toy" was aeveryone's favorite and still is !
