I don't know, bores the heck out of me March 5, 2008 0 out of 7 found this review helpful
I've been on a big dub kick as of late and this album comes highly recommended, so I figured I'd give it a shot. I made it through the first disc and I've had to force myself to try to make it through the second disc. For whatever reason I find it kind of uninspired, wheedling and boring, frankly. So darned random. Maybe it's brilliant but man I'm just not hearing it.

This is Lee Perry at the apex of his creative arc; like all great art it is a universe defined only by itself. There is only one Upsetter and these three albums might be his most personal and Upsetting creation. Typical of Trojan releases, most of the material here is available elsewhere, but it's a crucial collection on one double cd, and the few nuggets they throw on Disc 2 as bonus tracks are uniquely worthwhile. And much to their credit, they don't split up any album onto two separate discs, something they have ruthlessly done in the past.
