5 out of 5 stars John C. Reilly has an AMAZING voice   July 1, 2008
I loved John C. Reilly's voice in Chicago with his phenomenal version of "Mr. Cellophane" so when I saw Walk Hard I was completely blown away. Throughout this musician biopic parody, his voice shines through as a genuine and compelling instrument in the silly and serious songs. It took him eight months to record EIGHTY tracks for this movie. The "Guilty as Charged" song and scene remind me sooo much of Roy Orbison. Indeed "Beautiful Ride" gives me chills as the timbre of his voice reminds me of Mr. Orbison as well. "Beautiful Ride" is my favorite song on this CD though I enjoy all of them. A great performance for a great soundtrack to a hilarious movie!

5 out of 5 stars Excellent soundtrack   June 16, 2008
It is absolutely criminal how underappreciated this movie was. Extremely well-done and hilariously funny, Walk Hard was tied with No Country for Old Men as my favorite movie of 2007. It's such a shame that it opened the same day as National Treasure 2 and got trounced by that piece of crap. John C. Reilly rocked the microphone correct. I had no idea the man could sing so well.

The soundtrack exemplifies the heart and hard work that went into this movie. Why "Beautiful Ride" wasn't nominated for an Oscar and the treacle from Enchanted was, I'll never understand.

5 out of 5 stars Who knew ?   May 30, 2008
Wow. Who knew this guy could belt out a tune like this. Maybe HE is the next American Idol :)

5 out of 5 stars Masterful pop parodies   April 23, 2008

The biggest -- and best -- joke about the "Dewey Cox" movie is that the music written for the film is really, really good. Actor John C. Reilly reveals striking musical talent, belting out hilarious pop parodies ghost-written by folks such as Dan Bern, Mike Viola and Charlie Wadhams. Several songs will hum around in your head for days, such as the Roy Orbisonesque "A Life Without You" and the double-entendre laden Johnny Cash/June Carter homage, "Let's Duet." I only wish I'd gone to see Reilly when he did some club dates when the movie first opened -- I bet he was hilarious! (DJ Joe Sixpack, Slipcue music reviews)

For fans of the movie this soundtrack is a treat. If you liked Walk Hard then buying this is a no brainer! If you haven't seen the movie it's still worth giving it a listen for the awesome song writing and performing.
